【歴史を動かした“寄り道”「マリータ作戦」と8輪装甲車】

1941年4月、ギリシャの都市ラミアを抜ける「Sd.Kfz. 232（8輪仕様）」。車両の変態メカもさることながら、この背景にある「マリータ作戦（ギリシャ侵攻）」こそミリマニ必修の激アツ歴史。

実はこの作戦、ドイツ軍にとっては「予定外の尻ぬぐい」でした。

・発端はムッ���リーニのやらかし: 同盟国イタリアが欲を出してギリシャに侵攻するも、返り討ちに遭って大敗。さらにイギリス連邦軍がギリシャを支援すべく上陸。

・ヒトラーの焦り: 「このままだと、これから攻める予定のソ連の背後（バルカン半島）や油田がイギリス軍に脅かされる！」と激怒。急遽発動されたのがこのマリータ作戦。

結果、ドイツ軍は圧倒的な機甲部隊と電撃戦で、わずか24日足らずでギリシャ本土を制圧。写真のSd.Kfz. 232も、山がちで狭いギリシャの悪路を「8輪全輪駆動・全輪操舵」のバケモノ機動力で駆け抜け、電撃戦の「目と耳」として大活躍しました。

しかし、歴史の皮肉はここから。
このギリシャ（およびユーゴスラビア）への「寄り道」によって、世紀の大作戦である対ソ連侵攻「バルバロッサ作戦」の開始が約5週間も遅れることに。

この遅れが冬将軍の到来を早め、モスクワ攻略失敗の遠因になったとも言われています。

まさに「歴史を動かした電撃戦」の一瞬を切り取った、情報量過多な胸熱のフィルムです。
