It took three years to finish, but our follow-up to the 2006 "What Goes Around Comes Around" is finally out! Stonebraker and I examine the last 20 years in databases and discuss why relational databases + SQL will continue to remain on top.

Last year we revealed our vision about a ZeroETL future. Earlier this month we GAed the ZeroETL capability between Aurora MySQL and Redshift. Today we extend AWS's ZeroETL capabilities, by rolling out ZeroETL from Aurora Postgres, RDS MySQL and DynamoDB to Redshift, as well as ZeroETL from DynamoDB to OpenSearch. You can be sure that we will keep on extending these capabilities.

After 4 months of focused work, I'm launching what is, to my knowledge, the first truly serverless vector database: https://t.co/hAZ1Xnt71b
$1/month per million vectors (10-70x cheaper than others)
$4 per million queries
Attention everyone, we wrote a book on databases! Along with amazing @c_a_dunlop, @cardeneti82118, and Pavel, my ex-colleagues from @ScyllaDB. I *really* enjoyed writing the Drivers chapter. It's going to be freely available in ebook form once released as an @Apress Open book, and here's the pre-order link for paperback:

Protocol-Aware Recovery's findings impact:
- DBMS WAL designs,
- LSM trees “bolted on” with off-the-shelf consensus protocols like Raft, and
- formal proofs that verify components like consensus protocols and stable storage in isolation.
