@TrappedChest1 That makes sense. I more was linking the idea of a setting specific book paired with a developed adventure to go with it. Similar to the old pathfinder adventure paths and how they’d release a setting book and campaign book
@TrappedChest1 Very true. Oneshots can be extremely helpful for dms learning the system to see how it’s designed to be run.
That said, glad to see my instincts of a campaign setting plus campaign being helpful rang true. Something that’s been lacking from official releases for sure.
After running a years worth of paid games, I find it interesting that there are two types of players.
Those who are really into crafting an interesting story with the other players and really engage with the game.
And those who craft selfish main character power fantasies. 🤷♂️
@VengerSatanis True. It does seem to feel that way nowadays. That said, I’ll often try to push the latter groups of players together in groups because they often have great experiences together because they’re looking for the same payoff. And sometimes it makes magic!
@MindForgeLLC Agreed. Playstyle and gm-style are important factors in matching up groups. Thank you for your perspective on this as it’ll help others recognize the same!
@MindForgeLLC I tend to strive for the same. For some, the latter is what they need to find joy in their lives. If that’s the case, I try to push them into games with similar folks so they can both engage in the power fantasy and hopefully trick them into being the former. 😉
Potty training your toddler is like taking on the Tarrasque with a longbow at level 1. Sure you’ll win, but you’ll also spend 6 months of your life missing the target.
@UncleJessy4Real Lol yes we know this, but love to hear your opinion. I’ve had some luck with it so far. But also experience clogs more than I have before. Probably just gotta dial it in more.
I’m convinced some of the best dnd adventures can be converted from old pathfinder modules. I’ve been converting curse of the crimson throne and I’m loving the way it’s structured and supported with additional reference materials.
