@dominiclisti Rabe and Bissetta…2 Greenville dudes making noise on the biggest stage at Ole Miss. Hard work and commitment combined with talent is a powerful thing.
@704toFenway@theTeddyHeffner That’s like saying Bama was a bad job when Saban took over…Also, there’s $2M other reasons why it’s a job many coaches would kill for. That being said, I agree that getting a coach from another established program will be difficult.
@JacobTurnerNC I don’t see it happening. South Carolina is an elite program that is in shambles right now. But, 35 NCAA appearances, 14 SR, appearances, 11 CWS appearances, 2 titles. More $$ but not much more. Likely has better fan support. NIL is probably a wash.
@704toFenway@theTeddyHeffner South Carolina’s baseball program is an elite job…2 titles, 11 CWS, 3rd most super regionals of any program. Facilities are great. $2M/year and fan support is great. Columbia certainly isn’t as nice as CH but to say it’s not a great job, is ridiculous.
@Post52Baseball@30middle@JohnNester17 My son played for GVL Post 3 last summer. I think Post 52 had at least 7-8 kids committed…Very talented squad. In state quarterfinals, we faced Daniel Parker (Florence Post 1) who pitched 29 innings for Coastal Carolina this season. Legion baseball has plenty of talent.
@Clemson_FScar Clemson won two Championships and played in another…They are a Top 5 team in the CFP Era. No doubt about it. Playing Clemson every season is a tough draw for South Carolina but it is what it is. There are outliers and Clemson is one of them.
@Clowfb@jcshurburtt@GamecockFB Indiana had the worst losing % of any football program in CFB history before winning a National Championship last year. In the new age of NIL and transfer portal, consistent winning is harder but anyone can have a great year.
@WilGunter@masontyler924 Those are all fantastic coaches and I would be happy with any of them…the problem is no one is a slam dunk because there are so many different variables that make programs successful or not. I also get that Landon likely won’t get the opportunity unless he leaves NGU.
@masontyler924@WilGunter So, if Landon coached for LSU as an assistant last year, he’d be fine for us to hire? Does anyone know how hard it is to recruit to NGU and build a powerhouse program??? Whoever comes here is walking into a complete rebuild, not LSU, or any other perennial contender.
@WilGunter@masontyler924 I respect your POV and you make great points. I do think sometimes if something is good, you shouldn’t wait for everyone else to see it before you take advantage. Landon could go to different levels to prove himself but from a personal standpoint, he doesn’t want or need to.
@WilGunter@gmoneyy1984 You don’t see a significant difference between a 70 year old retired coach who would have gotten fired had he not retired and a guy like Landon Powell?
@AdamMad19082589@TheSargeDaily “Power 5” experience? Landon is a master at integrating transfers, top tier D1 guys, etc with high school talent to build a POWERHOUSE at NGU. If you’ve ever stepped foot on campus at NGU, you’d quickly realize how impressive that is.
@StillWaterDAWG How safe would Athens be if there wasn’t a football team? 😂. The most interesting one to me is Gainesville. I would expect Nashville, Baton Rouge and Columbia with those being capital cities and larger populations in those states but Gainesville seems odd to me…
