@lpatz80@SkyNews@KayBurley @lucyfrazermp I started a
S a police officer last year. £21k took a £9k paycut to join. Seen many things already that Joe blogs won't see in their lifetime. Love the job but not worth the money.
@WestMercPolFed I'm 41 and took a 10k payout to join. 2 kids to feed and a mortgage and bills through the roof. Pay is an absolute joke and job satisfaction is rare in fairness.
@robglassy@dullneat I'm 41. Most of my working life has been spent public facing gathering life skills and experience. I'm in year 2 of the PCDA degree program. I have plenty of life experience.
@dullneat I'm inbyear 2 and will be doing the same on my rest day on Monday. Motivation at its lowest point. The degree should be optional for existing students now. I would happily give it up with immediate effect.
“People need to be trained properly and officers should not be expected to complete assessments in their own personal time or on rest days."
We are continuing to press forces to allocate time during an officer’s working day for professional learning purposes.

Police officer starting pay is £21,402 pa.
They work 40 hrs a week for this sum which equates to £10.29ph. They can then be expected to work an extra 2 hrs each week for free.
Police Officer = £9.84ph
Nat Min Wage = £9.50ph
For the risk, they receive 34pph more than Min Wage!
Some officers are struggling to pay their bills, fuel their car and keep their families fed. This is on top of the stresses they have balancing workloads and dealing with harrowing incidents at work. £565 is not an acceptable offer for officers.
We are continually told by the government that we are the best police service in the world.
Despite the platitudes of being the best, our officers have considerably worse remuneration, than many other developed countries around the world.

99% of 57,452 Police Officers polled strongly agree that they deserve a pay rise in line with inflation and the cost of living. Police Officers have not had a pay rise since 2020 and pay lags 20% behind inflation over the past decade #PayOurPolice
“Student officers are at breaking point due to the strain of trying to complete a full degree while working in a highly stressful role on low pay and after speaking to a few, I have learned that they are overwhelmed by their student officer experience.” Mark Jones

In the late 70s, #Police Officer pay fell so far behind inflation that a Review granted Officers up to a 45% pay rise – implemented by the Tories when they came to power - to make the Job attractive. Are we witnessing deja-vu all over again? https://t.co/Kq3kmo0kEQ #PayOurPolice
@dullneat Spent my 4 rest days completing uni work. I'm on workbook 1. I'm 40 now and don't have a clue about academic writing. Contacted uni and they just seem to shrug their shoulders. Feel combination of uni work and poor pay is making me consider if this job is worth it.
