Academics defending Cofnas with the principle of 'free speech' represent a fundamental flaw in our culture. Basically, it's the refusal of the liberal-conservative mainstream to believe they're the subjects of ideology. Allowing an unproven position to be aired until verified or debunked is epistemic humility in a process of good-faith institutional pragmatism. Invoking the principle of free speech to allow an already debunked position with proven harmful practical consequences to be presented as science is misapplied moral absolutism. This misapplication is in bad faith, tacitly supporting an invalid, harmful flat-earth position simply because it opposes another position they dislike - they are captured as negative bad-faith actors by their own ideology. Put simply, for those who aren't friendly racists themselves, Pinker and his hard-of-thinking crew of bad-faith moralists have befriended Cofnas simply because he's their enemy's enemy.

It is not true that drones are “more of an irritation”. They are currently the best weapon in a war scenario, able to destroy tanks for a fraction of their cost.

What Hasan says about how the claim and perception that all Jews support Israel will contribute to antisemitism and cause blowback is an undeniable truth. What would make his statement problematic would be saying that all Jews deserve blowback. He’s not saying that.
