A2- this is a hard thing. I would like some advice myself on this situation! I would love to say some choice words but we all know we can’t do that! #chatcsd
A1- I like to have conversations with my students and listen to what they have to say without giving too much advice or talking too much unless they ask for it. Many of my Ss would say I’m easy to talk to! #chatcsd
I will find and use more high yield strategies for my special education students, especially non-linguistic representations by working with my coteachers to plan lessons that will reach our students in many different ways. #senatorslearn
A5: maybe giving each class a few minutes at the end of class to work on something of their choice and eventually moving to more time in which they can relate their work to what is being taught throughout the rest of class. If that makes sense. #chatcsd
A4: I feel like there is laziness because it is learned and passed down thru the generations. I come from a hard working family therefore I’m hard working and want praise from my family. Lead by example in a positive way! #chatcsd
@Joteacher11 Talking to parents is a good thing too. But sometimes we have those negative parents that treat their kids poorly and then you can see maybe why kids are the way they are.
A2: having conversations with the students. I learn a lot about my students during lunch or outside of class and gain their trust. If they won’t talk I’ll ask other students or teachers to help. #chatcsd
I agree with modeling and making schedules. Also, letting them master the small things that will eventually turn into bigger tasks to accomplish. #chatcsd
A5- I think we upgrade all the time. Or at least change with the times. Everyone is different and we work for different things so us being the amazing human beings that we are, change when needed. #chatcsd
A4- having conversations with my students and understanding what they work for. Then compare what we are working with to real life situations and get them to understand why we do what we do. Talk about my own experiences and relate to them. If this makes sense. #chatcsd
A3- I think that I’m a little bit of both. The math part of me likes to follow the formulas such as writing ieps and the steps that it takes to put that together but in the classroom, there is definitely organized chaos happeneing! That’s when the best learning happens! #chatcsd
@marymurrian This was the question I had.. many of our hs students will only work if they get that instant gratification- food or phones charged. Can we “teach an old dog new tricks?” I want my students to see they good in doing what’s expected to benefit their future. Not for candy. 😆
A1- I feel like we have to lead by example. Share experiences that we have in which we had to use our own intrinsic motivations. Then we can only hope that they believe in it more and use it more frequently. #chatcsd
