Archive at @BlundellsSchool, a co-ed boarding and day school educating young people aged 11 - 18. Archive holds 22,000 items dating back to the mid 14th century
Another beautiful page from the book of Abraham Podger from 1815 in our collection. Head of Sixth Form Dr Ratcliffe enjoyed a visit yesterday to the archive to enjoy it.
Had the absolute pleasure of working with professional photographer Steve Haywood yesterday morning in the archive. A real privilege and can't wait to see the final results. πΈ
@NThorpeBS Exactly! Might have some acid free tissue for shape? My other job today has been sorting my Tyvek order from PEL! Do you know anything about ties by any chance?
With my A-Level students sitting their mocks this week, I finally have some more time to work on my textile conservation project! This morning I've been sorting the boxes of uniform including this boater from 1934 and Fives gloves from 1915.
Archive back open after Half Term! While I was in London this week I visited St Thomas' Hospital which received Β£250 from Peter Blundell's Will to buy property, the income from which was used to look after the patients. ππ₯
Preparations going well for our 50 year celebrations next year for girls at Blundell's. Lovely photo of two members of the sixth form by Andrew Nadolski taken in 1986. #50yearsofwomen
G.H. Spring (1849-1921) taught science for 38 years during a time of great change, living at NC with his family. He left the school with 'the example of a great faith, a great courage and a splendid sense of duty'. Β£100 was raised for a memorial and science books in the library.
Bit of archaeology this morning at school. This turn of the century pill bottle by B.W. & Co, London was dug up intact by our fabulous grounds team down by the prep school. You can't see it on the photo but it has a very nice iridescent sheen π³π³π³
Two of our copies of Peter Blundell's will, drafted in 1599. These two are dated from 1601. Following Blundell's death that year, his 'dear and honourable friend' Sir John Popham began to fulfil Blundell's wish to found a school for boys in Tiverton. We've been going since 1604.
@KEVIBhamArchive@NThorpeBS You know that's a good idea! Thank you! I'll make a YouTube video. It's taken me months on and off researching how best I should do this and the materials which would work from a preservation POV because I don't have Β£64 to spend on each hanger...(these will cost Β£4 each!)
