Lagos Rent Displacement Theory.
This is what a friend told me about the theory of ongoing displacement in Lagos due to crazy rent prices.
Those in Island paying 12-15million to rent a 3-bedroom and unable to afford it any longer take the option of relocating to Mainland.
They then decide to invade Gbagada, and pronto. 5million naira rent gets jacked up to 7.5million.
They have outmuscled the hitherto Gbagada tenants.
Those ones either match them or move to Shomolu jejely.
The ones in Magodo cannot afford the 10m rent again, and are ready to pay 5m for house in Ketu.
The displaced people from Ketu, then move to Berger to displace the hitherto residents of there.
The earlier residents of Berger nko- They are then displaced to Arepo, Mowe and co.
Rent in Iyana-Ipaja for some houses is already 2 million naira.
That is how unbridled capitalism makes life unattainable for millions.
I have read a deeply distressing account shared by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, a woman whose voice and work have long enriched our nation and the world, describing the alleged circumstances surrounding the loss of her young son, Nkanu.
The loss of a child is an indescribable grief. No parent should ever have to carry such an egregious burden, and our hearts go out to Chimamanda, her husband, Ivara Esege, and their family in this season of profound pain.
Family grief of this nature reminds us of the sanctity of life and the enormous responsibility placed on those entrusted with healthcare. Moments like this call us to compassion, accountability, and action, and to a collective commitment to safeguard our institutions and uphold the highest standards of care and best practice.
We pray for comfort for the Adichie family. May the God of all comfort surround Chimamanda, Ivara, and their family with strength in these difficult days. May He bring peace to their hearts, grace to sustain them, and covering over their surviving son. In time, may He bring beauty out of pain, and may His glory yet be revealed even in this deep grief, redeeming for good what the adversary meant for harm.
Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré has officially become the first holder of the new AES biometric identity card, underscoring the alliance’s push for deeper regional integration.
The card, which is valid for a decade, includes modern security elements that meet international requirements.
Its rollout marks a clear shift from ECOWAS structures, reinforcing Burkina Faso’s alignment with the AES.
A transition period of five years has been approved, during which the old IDs will remain usable before being completely replaced by the new biometric standard across member states.

Onyeka Onwenu lived a life of purpose. She was a singer, songwriter, actress and activist who used her career and fame to speak about the social issues in Nigeria.
Here’re the details and Truth…
So, Engr. Dave Umahi suspiciously called for a Stakeholders Meeting for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal line for the 3rd time, in Lagos, to announce that Tinubu’s govt will no longer continue with the realignment for the Lagos-Calabar coastal line.
He said the reason to stop the realignment is that there are submarine (network) cables along the coastline that supply network, which are owned by telecoms. If the work proceeds, it will cut into the cables and affect network supply across the country.
Now, asides from the outrageous cost of this Lagos-Coastal coastal line, the major crisis surrounding the project was the demolition of Landmark beach and other multi-million Naira businesses around the coastal line in Lagos, due to the realignment.
It happened that the original design for the project didn’t include Landmark and these other businesses that were demolished. But, all of a sudden, Umahi and his team came up with another design that encroached on these business areas and marked them for demolition.
When people abused me on the coastal road matter, now they all see I was fighting for justice. I am on the right side of history always

”And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.“
