Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) is a serious condition that causes continuous and uncontrollable leaking of urine through the vagina, and in some cases (specifically when combined with a rectovaginal fistula), it can lead to leakage of faeces.

Nigeria has the highest prevalence of Vesico-Vaginal Fistula (VVF) in the world, with an estimated 400,000 to 800,000 women living with the condition, accounting for over 40% of the total global burden of VVF cases. The crisis is predominantly driven by prolonged obstructed labour, underage marriage and limited access to emergency obstetric care, particularly in rural regions.
