I think I know why I’m happy for the Knicks.
It’s a big city with lots to do, New York. But God do they love their basketball team.
They hadn’t won since my mother was in High School, but that didn’t define the culture of the franchise. The lack of championships and being long suffering wasn’t the story.
They never became lovable losers. Too much pride.
The culture of the city defined the culture of the team. They celebrated in good times and bad, so it feels like this joy was earned.
Not one guy on the Knicks was supposed to be the next big thing. They actually beat the next big thing.
It’s just kinda dope.
"The story of this fight is the union between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the Trump administration. This is merely the wedding between them."
@PabloTorre and @lthomasnews on how UFC Freedom 250 at the White House is powering cage-fight diplomacy — and the spoils of soft power that come with it
Don Lemon: “The stock market is not the economy. The stock market is a measure of how much money rich people are making. The farmers who can’t afford fertilizer are not in the stock market. The families digging into their savings just to cover groceries are not in the stock market. The people paying $4 or more for gas are not in the fucking stock market”
Knicks on the greatest heater in NBA history and Trump shows up and they get rattled and lose four straight … I hadn’t even considered the possibility but now that I think about it, it’s the funniest possible outcome and I am now rooting for it to happen.
You cannot force families to carry disabled children to term while simultaneously gutting the education, healthcare, and support systems those families need to care for them.
If I were pregnant and informed that my fetus had Down syndrome I would absolutely abort. No amount of social media romanticizing of profound disability would change my mind. Contrary to popular opinion, you need more than love to care for a disabled child.
Stephen A. Smith begs Donald Trump to stay away from Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals:
“He’s coming to Game three of the Finals, and I don’t want him there. It has nothing to do with politics, policy, or anything like that. It has everything to do with him disrupting and contributing at the same time to the chaos that’s going to be existing at Madison Square Garden. If it were Barack Obama coming to the Garden, I would say, ‘Stay home.’ Stay at the White House… I have been covering sports for over 30 years. And I’m telling you right now, come Monday, for Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden, I expect to see an environment I have never seen in my entire career covering sports."
