Excited for this new chapter with this group. Can’t wait to get VBA up and going! It’s taken a lot of hard work to get here and still plenty more to go. Lucky to call Cleveland High School our home. #VBACavalry
If I’m a high school hitter in the new “5 to play 5” eligibility era we’re about to enter in to in college baseball, this would be my path…
Find a JUCO where I can PLAY for two years and get hundreds of at bats…and all of my entry level course work done…then…
Transfer to a four year school, and still have THREE full seasons to play, and get my bachelors degree.
In the “5 to play 5” era, going somewhere that you won’t play really doesn’t make sense…unless it’s your dream school.
Former Reseda Cleveland baseball coach Joe Cascione left years ago to coach junior college baseball. Five years ago, he agreed to start a women's tennis team and coach tennis at Mission College. On Wednesday, with key players from the East Valley, Mission College won state title.
“You guys make it about the wins and losses. 25 years from now, I want them to pick up the phone and call me because they need me. I’m there for them.”
The life of a coach is an investment in people, not just points.
Build a legacy that outlasts the jersey.
🚨 Your Highlight Video Might Be Hurting You 🚨
Two mistakes college coaches see all the time:
❌ Inappropriate background music
❌ Over-editing to “hype” the clip
Here’s the reality…
College coaches are not judging your video production skills.
They are evaluating:
• Your mechanics
• Your timing
• Your arm strength
• Your footwork
• Your decision making
• Your consistency
They want to:
✔ See clean reps
✔ Hear the ball off the bat
✔ Hear the pop of the glove
✔ Evaluate your movements without distractions
The more effects you add…
The harder you make their job.
Simple wins.
Clear angles.
Minimal edits.
Game-like reps.
Your best plays first.
Let your skill speak.
If your video needs to be “hyped up” to look good, that’s a red flag.
College coaches want clarity — not production.
And remember…
You’re not auditioning for ESPN.
You’re showing a staff whether you can help them win.
Keep it clean.
Keep it simple.
Keep it real.
🚨 STOP WAITING FOR THE COACH TO CALL YOU. 🚨
If you’re serious about playing in college…
this might be the move that separates you.
Not another highlight clip.
Not another Instagram post.
Not another “just checking in” email.
📞 A phone call.
Yes — your voice.
Your confidence.
Your initiative.
Because here’s the truth:
College coaches are recruiting PEOPLE.
Not just stats.
Not just exit velo.
Not just pop time.
When you call, they hear:
• How you communicate
• How you handle pressure
• How prepared you are
• How badly you want it
Most athletes won’t do it.
They’ll overthink it.
They’ll wait.
They’ll hope.
Be different.
Prepare what you’re going to say.
Take a breath.
Dial the number.
Even if it goes to voicemail — you just showed maturity most recruits never do.
Recruiting doesn’t reward the most comfortable athlete.
It rewards the one who takes ownership.
📞 Be the one who makes the call.
26s, if you haven’t been offered by a D1/D2 at this point, NAIA/D3/JUCO is most likely the path. And those are all filling fast!
This is the time of year where we find out who ACTUALLY wants to go play
Don’t run out of time bc u think you’re too good for a certain level!
🙏🏽🤙🏽
If you want to be a successful head coach, fall in love with the details.
The scheduling, the communication, the ordering, the inventory, the game day music, the PA scripts, the media inquiries, the release times, etc. The list never ends.

Athlete: Coach… I think I want to quit.
Coach: Okay. Then let’s talk about why.
Athlete: I’m tired. All the early mornings, the pain, the pressure. Sometimes I wake up and wonder what I’m even doing this for.
Coach: That’s not quitting. That’s being human. Doubt shows up when you’re close to something that matters.
Athlete: But I’m not even sure I’m good enough. I look around and see people stronger, faster… happier.
Coach: Comparison is a liar. It shows you everyone’s surface but hides their struggle. You don’t need to be better than them. You need to be better than yesterday.
Athlete: What if I never win? What if I give everything and still fall short?
Coach: Then you’ll walk away with something most never touch—truth. The kind you only find when you’ve emptied yourself for something bigger than comfort.
Athlete: So… you think I should keep going?
Coach: I think you already know the answer. You wouldn’t be having this conversation if you truly wanted to stop. You just want someone to remind you that it’s worth it.
Athlete: It hurts, Coach. Some days, it really hurts.
Coach: Good. That means you care. And nothing worth having comes without pain. Now breathe. You’ve made it through every hard day so far.
Most quit before the breakthrough!
Don’t be like most!
