🚨 Two randomized #CardioOncology trials at #ESCCongress2026!
🫀 RADICAL PC2: CV referral improved risk-factor control in prostate cancer.
💗 HER-SAFE: HF therapy withdrawal after recovery from anti-HER2 CTRCD appeared safe at 12 months.
@escardio@ESC_Journals
Heart function stayed stable at 1 year after carefully monitored withdrawal of heart failure therapy in breast cancer survivors with recovered anti-HER2 cardiotoxicity. Work from our group at @ucl, presented by @bmdwsg as a Late-Breaking Trial at #ESCCongress 2026 & published simultaneously in @ehj_ed: HER-SAFE. @TheBHF@escardio@MycardiumAI #CardioOnc

Excited to see our work on myocardial fibrosis and reverse remodelling after AVR for chronic aortic regurgitation published in @JAMACardio! https://t.co/8TwXiyKces
At 7 months post AVR:
🔹 LVEDV ↓44%
🔹 LV mass ↓21%
🔹 Matrix ↓15%
But focal scar did not regress #whyCMR@TheBHF
Glad to see our paper published in the European Heart Journal: Cardiovascular Imaging @ESC_Journals!
In 5,675 Cardiac MRI studies, asymmetrical septal hypertrophy (ASH) was present in 61% of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients, but also 37% of ATTR amyloidosis, 26% of aortic stenosis and 23% of AL amyloidosis.
After accounting for age, sex & body size, however, excess asymmetry remained uniquely associated with HCM (ΔSLR +0.27).

@HanCardiomd@ShelleyZieroth@hvanspall@DrMarthaGulati@BiykemB@biljana_parapid Reassuring that heart failure therapies appear to be effective in all, but remains important to tackle cardiovascular health inequalities. Women and patients with cancer often overlooked despite their CV risk.

@drbennisahmed Important question of remission vs recovery in HFimpEF. TRED-HF still doing the heavy lifting! HER-SAFE and STOP-MED CTRCD will provide more evidence in cancer survivors with improved CTRCD soon.

@CircAHA@bocchi@MBittencourtMD@monicaAGrinberg@lukadalech Great to see more evidence on protecting heart health whilst safely delivering vital cancer therapies. Though is relative GLS change precise enough to justify ARNI? LVEF remains in the normal range Tx or not. Can patients accept the burden of extra meds if no significant effect?
Fantastic summary. Clinicians often underestimate the impact of lifelong poly pharmacy - “you say treatment, I say hard work!”. HER-SAFE will address GDMT withdrawal in breast cancer survivors with HFimpEF following antiHER cardiac dysfunction. Recruitment finishing soon!
In #JACCHF, Drs. Nandan Kodur & @WilsonTangMD review management of #HFimpEF
🔸Who must continue #GDMT?
🔸What are characteristics of those who may be able to withdraw?
🔸Where are the evidence gaps?
🔸What are areas for future study

@ChengshengJ@JACCJournals Congratulations! Well done. Vital work to help tackle the health inequalities faced by cancer patients with cardiovascular disease.
A great collaboration between UCL, University of Dundee and HKU. Congratulations to @VincentKCYan@ChengshengJ Tom MacDonald, Isla Mackenzie, Rob Flynn, Bryan Williams, Yang Chen, Esther Chan, Jacob George & Li Wei for the publication of indapamide study https://t.co/BRdeeYDJqr
