Well that was different for a Tuesday afternoon! A stoat hunting a couple of young rabbits round the back of the house. Amazing to watch as it killed the bunny and dragged it up a near-vertical 3m bank!

One of these is a genuine wildflower meadow, which came naturally. It's a rich mini-ecosystem.
The other is from a packet of 'wildflower mix'. It fits somewhere between the real thing and a plastic display.
Nature needs far more of the first, but none of the second.
No swifts, no swallows, no house martins and more worrying no insects. It's the 5th of July, the field in front of the house is full of cow shit and absolutely no wildlife. Humans have fecked this planet up.

Introduced by man and highly invasive, rhodo is destroying many/most of the last vestiges of native rainforest we have left in Ireland. Should we just accept that as somehow 'natural', and do nothing?
This is our Corrib Curlew breeding sites burning tonight…from 5km+ away. Territory of multiple Cu and many other endangered bird sp., lots of other waders. SAC habitats. Huge carbon stores. N84 to headford closed. Total destruction. @CurlewEIP & farmers devastated…no words 😞
