Your life is going to spoil if you don’t learn to disappoint your parents early. And by that, I don’t mean becoming a nuisance to society or a disgrace to your family.
You must learn to rebel against your parents early in life. Let them know that you are a difficult child who doesn’t fold easily.
If you take every piece of advice your parents give you, especially if you come from a poor home, you might never make it out of the trenches.
African parents, especially, are not always open-minded. Many still think like it’s 2005. They are people pleasers who care more about what people will say than what you want or what will make you happy. Disappoint them early so they can bring you down from the pedestal they have placed you on. It will help you go far in life.
There are adults who cannot travel to another city in search of greener pastures because their parents are too strict.
There are adults, especially Christians, who cannot wear trousers, earrings, wigs, lip gloss, etc., because their parents still hold on to archaic beliefs that these things are sinful. They still hide to do things that make them happy simply because they have not broken free.
Heck, there are adults who still have curfews because they have controlling parents. And we both know this is not always about protection.
Have you ever wondered why, no matter how much their parents criticize the black sheep of the family, they often seem to have more freedom and even more opportunities to succeed? It’s because they have broken free. Their “Giran mentality” has helped them discover their own paths early in life.
Until you realize that your parents can unintentionally sabotage your life, you might never find the courage to rebel against their control. And if you don’t rebel and fight for your own life, you might never break free.
You are a human being with your own goals, dreams, and aspirations. You are not an extension of your parents, nor are you an experiment designed to correct their mistakes.
They will be disappointed in you. They will complain, criticize you, and call you names. But I promise you, they will adjust. They will get used to the new program, and they will be fine.
😄😅...wallahi still kaji kunya.
So it took a public letter by him without naming names for you act like you're taking his side?
Anyway. If it's any consolation, I now understand why most Arewa leaders have avoided the case.
Duk da haka, duk mun ji kunya.
As for the actual man behind it, your own case go worst ooh.
