The U.S. should move beyond rhetoric and take concrete action to end Iran’s destabilizing grip on the Strait of Hormuz, safeguard international shipping from ongoing attacks, and deter the renewed aggression of the IRGC against the UAE.

For anyone who forgot, this is what the African Union itself determined regarding Somaliland:
“The fact that the union between Somaliland and Somalia was never ratified and also malfunctioned when it went into action from 1960 to 1990, makes Somaliland's search for recognition historically unique and self-justified in African political history.”
@M_Farmaajo Your people have made their choice loud and clear.
Somaliland has fought for independence while maintaining a democratic, stable, and terror-free society. Goals you should aspire to achieve.
I announced today the official recognition of the Republic of Somaliland as an independent and sovereign state.
Together with Foreign Minister Sa'ar and the President of the Republic of Somaliland, we signed a joint and mutual declaration.
This declaration is in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, signed at the initiative of President Trump.
I congratulated the President of Somaliland, Dr. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdallah, and praised his leadership and commitment to promoting stability and peace. I invited the President to pay an official visit to Israel.
The President thanked me for this historic declaration and expressed appreciation for my achievements in fighting terrorism and advancing regional peace.
I thank Foreign Minister Sa’ar, the Head of Mossad David Barnea and the Mossad, for their contribution to today’s development, and I wish the people of Somaliland success, prosperity, and freedom.
The State of Israel plans to immediately expand its relations with the Republic of Somaliland through extensive cooperation in the fields of agriculture, health, technology, and economy.
In my opinion Somaliland is building stability and institutions while the Federal Government in Mogadishu and SSC Khatumo forces choose obstruction over dialogue. History belongs to builders, not blockers.
#Somalia’s Defence Minister Wades Into U.S. Politics by Defending @IlhanMN
Somalia’s involvement in American politics took a new turn today after the country’s Minister of Defence, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, publicly declared his support for U.S. Congresswoman Ilhan Omar in a Facebook post.
In his statement, Fiqi wrote:
“If our daughter is being targeted because of her identity, we will firmly stand by her… As Minister of Defence of Somalia, I say clearly: I stand with Ilhan.”
The Defence Minister went on to describe Omar as a role model who “succeeded through her own abilities” and whose critics “cannot blame Somalia nor condemn her for her birthplace.”
The remarks are raising eyebrows because they cross into U.S. domestic political debates. Critics argue that such public endorsements by a foreign government official amount to interference in American politics and risk undermining diplomatic norms.
UAE visa ban 2026: Somalia blacklisted, Somaliland not. UAE’s own visa portal even lists Somaliland separately. Clear, quiet proof the world already treats them differently.

Despite billions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer funds and extensive international support over the past sixteen years, your administration, chosen by only 200 delegates, has failed to establish authority even within Villa Somalia, while corruption in Mogadishu deepens, Al-Shabaab continues to control the main roads to and from your capital, and instead of building effective state institutions these resources are diverted toward personal gain, including property acquisitions in Kenya and cooperation with America’s regional adversaries, leaving one to ask what credible new vision you can truly present to @SenTedCruz, @realDonaldTrump@SecRubio and the American people to justify further assistance?
we are thrilled to celebrate the completion and historic Inauguration of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, at our Consulate, where we expressed our profound gratitude and vote of thanks to Ethiopian Communities and friends, in Somaliland, for their immense contributions and continuous support to the GERD, during the period of its construction. Congratutions for all of us and Happy Ethiopian new year 2018!!
#NEWS: Taiwan Strengthens Maritime Ties with Somaliland in Bold Democratic Alliance
Taipei, July 24, 2025 — Taiwan and Somaliland have signed a new maritime security agreement, deepening their five-year partnership.
The deal, signed by coast guard officials from both sides, focuses on training, joint exercises, and improving maritime safety.
Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te praised the move, saying democracies must stand together against outside pressure. Somaliland’s Foreign Minister Abdirahman Dahir Adam echoed this, calling Taiwan a trusted partner and stressing that no pressure will break their friendship.
The agreement also opens the door for cooperation in other areas, including education, infrastructure, and investment, showing that both sides aim to build a long-term, practical relationship beyond formal diplomacy.
