The Illusion of Safety in German Bureaucracy 🇩🇪🇪🇺

The Netherlands has approved it. Belgium is on board. The data clearly shows that it makes roads significantly safer. But in Germany? Silence.

It’s the same old story: whenever innovation doesn’t come from Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, or Munich, German politics seems quick to pull the bureaucratic handbrake. Under the banner of “strict regulations” and “thorough procedures,” advanced technology that can save lives today is simply kept out.

It’s no secret that the traditional German automotive industry is falling behind in AI and autonomous driving software. Instead of accelerating innovation, policymakers appear to be choosing protectionism. Institutions such as Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) hide behind layers of paperwork and endless discussions within the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), while neighboring countries have already embraced the future.

The Dutch RDW has taken the lead and demonstrated that it can be done. The fact that German authorities have not immediately followed this approval is not a question of capability, but of willingness. Germany likes to present itself as the automotive capital of the world, yet when it comes to software and genuine innovation, it is stuck in traffic.

A call to all German Tesla owners, tech enthusiasts, and supporters of innovation 📣

Nothing will change unless we push for it together. German authorities need to feel the pressure. It’s time to start contacting the Federal Ministry and the responsible agencies in large numbers. Demand that they stop protecting outdated interests and start prioritizing road safety and innovation.

Uk officials says Elon Musk could be jailed for up to two years without any right to appeal.

For his X posts harshly criticizing UK government actions on migration, grooming gangs, and riots. It fit offenses under the Communications Act 2003 or Public Order Act 1986 if prosecuted as grossly offensive or stirring hatred, making them eligible for these faster, non-jury processes with limited appeal rights.

I frequently see a comment like this in articles about new nuclear.

"Two 1,100-megawatt units were built at Georgia’s Plant Vogtle in recent years, both of which suffered long delays and big cost overruns."

I'd love to be able to offset that statement with one that describes the performance of the reactors in the years since they began operating.

It would be even better if that response could include a credible estimate of the cost of the same quantity of power if produced by burning gas using market prices coincident with the Vogtle energy production.

🚨 UK man sentenced to 2 years in prison for a single Facebook comment.
He wrote that immigrants arriving with no work visa or trade were getting “life of Riley” off hardworking taxpayers’ money, while more locals are pushed into homelessness and that he didn’t want his taxes going to people who “our kids and get priority” on housing.
The judge ruled: “Although you said that you had no intention of carrying out any act of violence, there can be no doubt that you were inciting others to do so.”
Even though the man explicitly said he had zero intent of violence.
The video puts it plainly: he was locked up for “literally just saying objectively true statements.”
This is what free speech looks like in Britain right now.

This was 11 months ago and I have now experienced Tesla FSD Supervised myself in Europe today in the Netherlands (and in the US and China previously). I can’t see any reason why the UK government couldn’t press go on this. @TeslaOwnersUK
