New Video: Very Severe #MECFS is a debilitating condition causing profound suffering and life threatening symptoms. They are bedridden and dependent on care. Most doctors have had no training; leading to misdiagnosis, Inappropriate management and medical neglect.
1) Since I've been living isolated from the world since 2013, and from 2015, one visitor per year has not been uncommon. I've decided to film my current life with M.E.
Not that my days are that exciting, but I often get questions about how I get by. How

Today (well, yesterday now) is #MEAwarenessDay. I've been one of the #MillionsMissing since age 16. I turned 23 last week.
There are so many things I could say about life with #SevereME, so many alarming statistics & horrifying, heartbreaking stories. (1/8)
[TW: story about severe ME/CFS]
Some time ago, a person with severe #MECFS requested that I visit with them. It has been a while since I was there and I’m still working through everything I heard and saw that day. This person had been unwell for many years and their (1/)

Having survived trauma, we can be particularly sensitive to feeling helpless-- especially when we're exposed to pain or injustice we can't change.
And survivors VERY often feel called or compelled to risk or sacrifice a lot to help people or animals we may not even know.
Trauma survivors can have this push & pull relationship w/ challenges. We often bite of WAY more than we can realistically chew to "prove" ourselves-- but we also often procrastinate or avoid things we CAN do because we're CONVINCED we're gonna fail.
It can be exhausting.
This was used a lot in my relationship. He would be late to important appointments (it will happen when we get there) or there would be bickering in the car. He would get out the car "in role", all calm. I was flustered & anxious.
Or one look, I would go silent & bowed.
This strange clock is located in Union Square. It doesn't go forward, it goes backwards. It's a countdown. It is the date when the effects of global warming will have become irreversible and zero is in six years from now.
Complex trauma survivors often seem to have a sixth sense for reading people & situations.
That's not a superpower-- that's our nervous system having adapted to a home environment where we NEEDED to almost "see the future" to be safe.
And it's a "sense" that comes at a cost.
People often do not understand how debilitating #MECFS can be. Professor Ron Davis, Stanford University: “If you get chronic fatigue syndrome or ME/CFS, your life as you know it’s over. That is really sad, because it hits people at the prime of their life.” #MEAwarenessHour
