@levelsio Many factors come into play here. One of the main ones is whether you're talking about 1RM or 8+ reps sets. It's sad that many are so uninformed. You try to help, but it's misleading. That's why I - a software engineer - decided to study and graduate as trainer
@denisyurchak In my experience at least GPT can be off by upto 200-250 per meal. Sometimes AI just can't know especially with natural meats which may have varying fat contents. Better to build up some experience/intuition/habits while counting and then reduce the counting to only when needed
@fr4c1c0n@Mangan150@GuruAnaerobic If I eat mainly minced meat or fatty steaks I find it incredibly easy to overeat (fats). What worked for me was reintroducing fiberous vegetables, calorie tracking, leaner meats and whole foods with low calorie density
There's a few who dare to think for themselves and who can appreciate both scientific rigor as well as practical and anecdotal wisdom. I'm thinking mainly of @AJA_Cortes here.
Every fitness influencer makes their own branded app to lock users in.
For users - especially those who rely on AI - these apps are getting less interesting.
Who will be the first influencer to realize the path forward is just like in other industries: an open source platform?
@KBr_enthusiast@saddenedeye@AbudBakri You're conflating things. The scientific method is about seeking truth in an open minded way, making hypotheses and doing experiments to prove (or disprove) them.
Your "evidence based" blog example that needs conclusive evidence "about everything" is not the scientific method
@SamaHoole The "shocking" idea has been debunked over and over. If anything, science has proven the opposite: you need consistent loading patterns to factor out neural adaptations. Every new exercise is a new skill that needs to be learned first to drive meaningful hypertrophy

-Anything I overlooked?
So many examples of this. I'm helping a friend lose weight. He read an article that recommended consuming several teaspoons of olive oil per day "because it is healthy"... But it contains hundreds of calories! Much healthier to *not* consume any oils and lose body fat instead!
@Mangan150 The direct result of fitness/health content (both from traditional media and "influencers") which only has 1 goal: selling ads. Following media about health typically makes one *worse* off. Proper recommendations are few and far between. You're one of the few good ones, doc.

@homegymcoop@yangWao How does this affect your quads programming? I also have a dorsiflexion limitation. I tried box squats and limiting ROM. Ultimately switched to Bulgarians and leg extensions to get full ROM and rectus femoris. sissy squats are interesting too. Curious on your take.
