Today, I am proud to launch the African Strategic Advisory Group on Genomics (ASAG) — an African-led advisory body to guide how the continent governs, generates and uses genomic data to protect our people.
ASAG will strengthen disease surveillance, enhance epidemic preparedness, support ethical data governance and accelerate the development of African-led medical countermeasures — placing Africa at the centre of the global health security agenda.
This is genomics on Africa’s terms: coordinated, ethical and grounded in our priorities.

🗞️ Breaking: Africa CDC and @FHI360 have signed an MoU in Addis Ababa to strengthen health security and resilient public health systems across Africa.
The partnership aligns with the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty (AHSS) Agenda—a continental framework focused on preparedness and response, sustainable financing, digital transformation, local manufacturing, and stronger global health cooperation.
This collaboration will reinforce country-led public health capacity across AU Member States.

@MSamuelSherwood@Salwan_Momika1 Europe is scary, it's sad what's happening and I hope things get better. Right now I'm only going there because I have commitments with my work. If it wasn't for that, I would not going there
Genmoz & @Manhica_CISM researcher Arlindo Chidimatembue successfully defended his Master thesis today!
Within @ISGLOBALorg@UniBarcelona Master of Clinical Research program, Arlindo studied the progression of afebrile malaria using genomics (MAD4HaTter) and serology.
Parabéns!

@BinghamLowe@RadioGenoa Why did you invade Africa? Why are you still exploring African resources nowadays?
Before you mention things like that, think first.
Another thing is that these videos does not show how the problem started, only consequence.
Exciting day ahead at the @illumina pre-#ASLM2023 workshop in Cape Town!
