There is a bipartisan bill proposed by Josh Hawley and Elizabeth Warren called the Breakup Big Medicine Bill.

I asked James one question. When you are elected — I didn't say if, I said when you are elected — will you co-sponsor the Breakup Big Medicine Bill? Because that is key. If we can break up those big companies — the CVSs, the United, etc. — we literally could see the cost of pharmaceuticals and healthcare literally drop overnight.

James said yes. So here I am — and we are going to break up Big Medicine.

Traffic Stop – Elephants Coming Through!

One of this week’s missions: helping 30 bulls navigate both a railway and a highway crossing to get back to safety.

Working with Kenya Wildlife Service teams on the ground, the SWT helicopter hovered overhead until the bulls formed a single group. Then, our pilot slowly shepherded the group through the railway underpass and towards the Mombasa Highway. KWS held up all road traffic, allowing the elephants safe passage.

The bulls’ journey home wasn’t complete yet. There was still a kilometre to go until they reached protected land, where ground teams created a temporary opening in the fence. Fortunately, the group was led by several older, experienced bulls, who knew the drill and cooperated with their aerial shepherd.

Three hours and two high-pressure crossings later, all the bulls were safely back inside Tsavo National Park.

You asked, "How do our Keepers tell each elephant apart?"

Well, its a mix of physical features – ear shape, tusk angle, tail hair, freckling, gait – and, more importantly, behaviour. Every Keeper knows the rescue history and personality of every orphan in our care.

Recognition runs the other way too. At milk feeds, each orphan walks straight to their own bottle position. And elephants remember Keepers across decades – eight years after he was last seen, Ndume recognised his former Keeper Joseph.

Mbegu’s boyfriend meets the family!

If you've followed our work for a while, you might be familiar with Mbegu, named ‘tiny seed’ in Swahili by one of our Keepers - and it stuck!

Rescued as a tiny victim of human-wildlife conflict, she has a natural maternal streak that has defined her life with us. She went wild in September 2025, leading her herd out into the Tsavo wilderness.

Two months later, she carried off one of the largest kidnappings we've ever seen, whisking away 12 of the 'Voi kids'. The truants were eventually returned home, but it seems to have sparked something inside Mbegu.

In February of this year, she brought home an impressive wild bull - this chap pictured - a boyfriend to meet the family! They mated within sight of the Keepers so, in 22 months, she might be introducing us to a calf – a baby for Mbegu at last.
