“When the Paris Commune took the management of the revolution in its own hands – the old world writhed in convulsions of rage at the sight of the Red Flag, the symbol of the Republic of Labor, floating over the Hôtel de Ville.” - Karl Marx
@Y40IFRQTTING@Iconic_Crab well, there will be self-governance by the proletarians, who organise themselves according to communist principles and conduct themselves according to communistic policy. this way of speaking only negatively and not clearly expressing a positive programme is unhelpful.
@proledelendaest@EcoTechBro the question is quite simple, people don’t really know the context of witbd?, nor have they read the opposing views of rabochee delo that the iskraists were polemicising against.
@revdefeatist the identity of a nation is a battleground, contest and win it. people who introduce false dichotomies between patriotism/nationality & internationalism, who make equivocation fallacies between progressive-revolutionary & reactionary conceptions of nationality are uninsightful.
@revdefeatist we remain impotent when we treat nationality in this way. national affiliation is felt more naturally than class affiliation. one of the many socialists’ grand failings is an inability to articulate an alternate socialist national identity, and demonising nationality as such.
@bhagwa_mattick once you recognise the intellectual confusion that comes with using “bourgeois” as a qualifier of meaning (as it is used in most cases!), and find it in you to break away from it, everything only gets better.
@GadNagh@Howitzeralone@tupiornot_tupi@SpartPamphlets see erik van ree’s articles on the genesis of sioc as a concept, also yury sorochkin’s “from fichte’s ‘the closed commercial state to ‘socialism in one country’: intellectual origins of stalinism and stalinist utopia”
https://t.co/WzbW3V8YR5
it is controversial to acknowledge, especially for those who champion themselves as ‘disciples’ of lenin on the italian left — but lenin was one of the progenitors of socialism in one country. he was wrong on this.
@GadNagh@Howitzeralone@tupiornot_tupi@SpartPamphlets “It cannot be otherwise under commodity production. From this it follows […] socialism cannot achieve victory simultaneously in all countries. It will achieve victory first in one or several countries, while [others] remain bourgeois or pre-bourgeois” ehh, it can’t be denied
Best thing to protect the revolution is destroy any autonomous capacity of society, consolidate everything into the state because you think that’s power, then fail in a few decades so it can easily be usurped by capitalists, works every time
@roxy_wodka@syndician@VenturCommunist the burden of proof is with you. it is entirely reasonable, even necessary, to assume that communism accommodates nationality. and if it supposedly cannot, then you are obliged to reconsider it. an actually consistent and meaningful internationalism requires it.
@sebastian_trifa@adhee1673 they did so with the desire and intent of completely restructuring the life of the country, and of increasing the capacity of the state. as can be expected, taking huge leaps and bounds with complex systems of production has terrible effects. it was reckless and irresponsible.
@sebastian_trifa@adhee1673 the violation of the smychka was definitely an example of class politics, but it just goes to demonstrate that this was an example of the party-state functionaries openly declaring war on and suppressing the activity of the peasants.
