“Forced evictions are considered a gross violation of human rights” — UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing Leilani Farha https://t.co/GvvS0ysxmB #gentrification#housing
America, the election is almost here. Here’s what to expect when polls close:
The margins are going to be close, but our campaign is on track to win this election. Americans all across the country are casting their votes in record numbers, ready to turn the page.
It will take time to count every vote, and there may be swings in the count along the way. Donald Trump falsely claimed victory in 2020, and we expect that he will do it again. We know that he is a liar—but the ballots will tell the truth. Stay patient, and know that every vote will be counted fairly.
America’s election system is strong—and it will not be interfered with by partisan actors. Our legal operation is ready to fight to protect every vote and make sure every last one is counted. Your vote is your voice, so get out and make yours heard: https://t.co/au6egSRhU8.
Together, we are going to win this election, and chart a new way forward.
@SarahTaber_bww So many questions! Same mechanism in all species, worldwide? How does a warmer winter screw this up - if more of the winter is in that range (no time below it), will it bloom early - and even if safe/past frost, will it sync to insects and birds?
@drvolts What learning or experience would be necessary to let that go and take up a place of equality instead of primacy? Is there a special invitation?

Two days ago, a 10-year old Black child was brutally scalded with boiling water by a Quebec woman while he walked by her home. I don’t see people condemning this vile act or those in government making solidarity statements.
Where is the outrage?
Racism is alive & well in Canada.
Since 2019, 16 belugas and one killer whale have died at Marineland, the only place in the country that still holds whales in captivity. — by @liamdevlincasey#onpoli https://t.co/2r4IWY1PEM
A STATEMENT ON THE FLOODING SITUATION IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA & SURROUNDING AREA:
I finally had to log off and get some sleep last night, but I didn't stop thinking about the #Helene damage in western North Carolina (WNC), where I grew up. I have some thoughts on this historic storm this morning.
I believe that Helene has created a unique logistics and infrastructure nightmare there which will last weeks and it will take months to recover. Here's why: (1/6)
In Doug's first year he cut social services by $1 billion, removed rent control, cut the basic income pilot, cancelled a minimum wage increase, cut mental health funding, & cut WSIB payments for injured workers. OW & ODSP are not enough to live on. He has put Ontario on its ass.
