Huge grey-green leaves heavily dusted with flour, throwing up a spike 6-7’ tall, even more grey and wooly than the leaves. It fascinated me to watch this spike grow so rapidly and to observe its pentagonal buds exploding one by one into flowers.

This Infrared satellite loop shows us the temperature of the clouds around the tropical low. The colder the temperatures the higher the clouds, and the higher the clouds the more intense the thunderstorm activity. The red and grey colours represent temps of -60°C or colder.

Bookbinders often used waste material. Discarded musical ms leaves are common as binding waste on books from the 16th & 17th centuries, just like this great example. Add Ms 48036
