@viceanddecay_ Definitely not necessary, but it's super cool so a lot of people take it. Every branch of monk feats are just dope, but it depends on what you think is the coolest. The focus spell route of Ki rush, into wholeness of body rules is one of my favs. I'm not huge on ki strike, tbh
@DanTalksGames I feel similarly, but I've only really played 5e before pf2e. I was excited to find a spell like enhance ability for social situations in 5e... Until I realized it made every check trivial and almost assured to get the good outcome. Spell slots never ran dry in the system
@chromythica I think it has to be secrets of magic. The expanded lore of how people see magic in a setting is something I've always wanted. It gives toxic traits people might have by focusing on specific schools of magic, and how experts of the different traditions view their tradition.

I've been dipping my toes back in after 4 years off league and these guys have been really keeping my head on straight and understanding how to improve at the game. Doing what teach really counters the toxicity that a lot of peeps have

@Psycho_P_Adour I went to the link paizo sent you and in the whole of San diego, there's one store that runs every other Saturday and is booked for the next six weeks and is the same time slot that I have an online game. It's brutal stuff. One of the stores listed for SD was closed permanently
@TheDMLair Prime example *beginner box spoilers*
That dragon at the end of the beginner box is a killer because a lot of people didn't read the section and learn you shouldn't hit the full party with the breath weapon that can one shot them.
@TheDMLair A TPK could have been likely with a severe encounter at any point in the day at level 1, it's just the one at the end was even more severe from lack of resources and follow through. When they hit 5ish you usually get more ways to debuff and buff via skills and spells to even it
@TheDMLair In a single combat with a martial, you might burn them on your first attack when things are getting tough, saving them for that bad fortitude save, the battle medicine check to get someone up, the feint to get FF, the grapple to get a lock em down. 1-4 chances a round to burn em.
@TheDMLair I personally find that hero points usually don't survive to death saves. I play four hour sessions or so, and the dm gives 2-3 through the session. There are so many rolls in a pf2e session that you want to use them on. Plus it doesn't heal, just stabilizing, so hard to get up.
@josiahsdoodles Yeah, it's a good benefit of using a hero point. If only I didn't coax my fellow player into burning them way before they go down, haha.
