@untitledartx@love4champers@catturd2 Imagine being illiterate. It says "proposed community notes." The way you voted, and your room temperature IQ seem to coincide well.
@godgunsgpus@graceshooman@DreamLeaf5 Imagine showing that all the states with the lowest education standards voted right, and thinking it's a valid argument.
Very unpopular game dev industry opinion: There are thousands of pro / hardcore players in multiplayer games who have put 10-100x more hours into learning & mastering a game and thus, in some ways, know more about whatโs best for the game than the Devs designing it
The problem: Multiplayer Game Designers will rarely ever (if ever) admit or acknowledge that, creating a false belief that their design ideas are the right ones over their customersโ ideas who, unlike almost any other industry, in some ways actually know more about the product and how it should be designed than the creator or designer of that product
In Film, rarely does a viewer know more about directing a movie than a Director
In Manufacturing, rarely does a consumer know more about how to make that product than the manufacturer
In Medicine, rarely does a patient know more about diagnosing a disease than a doctor
In Games, much more often does a player know a lot more about a game than the Designer who just got hired from a different game company to guide the game or a feature of the gameโs design direction, yet 95% of the designers in MP Game Design right now (IMO) donโt realize, admit or acknowledge that fact (perhaps for reasons of fear of looking bad, over confidence or ego, finally having โtheir shotโ to be a Lead MP Designer after years of working up the ranks and wanting to call shots, etc)
Iโm not saying that a pro player should be making unilateral or any big game design decisions over Game Devs.
I am saying that Game Devs should bring the right pro or hardcore players into design ideation discussions much earlier in the design process, and actually factor in their feedback, than they currently are (which is right before, or post-ship usually, right now and for the vast majority of games at least)
The Season 17 Ranked changes in Apex Legends may be a good proof point for this (too early to tell though). Gears of War 4-5 MP, Halo 4-5 MP, many CoD games, maybe Lawbreakers, etc. have been examples of this IMO.
And Valorant is an example of the opposite scenario - what can happen when pro or hardcore players are brought in early and are helping to lead and influence many crucial design decisions
This is why I think the industry is about to undergo a massive shift in the next 5-10 years with things like @EpicGames UEFN now putting the power in the hands of the community of creators, and with 100T, @DrDisrespect, @NICKMERCS and @Ninja, @shroud and many others now making their own games
I believe that thereโs a new era for game design coming and that the game devs who either are hardcore players/students of the game they design, or are humble enough to recognize that they arenโt the experts and will accept help from those who are, will succeed
