However, a plaintiff having standing doesn't mean SC *must* hear the case, and they probably wouldn't in this instance, since there's no proof.

Yes, but the alternate electors can't bring things straight to SC before all lower courts have heard it first, and even then they would probably have opted not to hear it. It's only when states sue states that the case goes directly to SC.

If they fail, only the military powers remain. All armed forces are oathbound to defend the constitution, so SCOTUS failing could (and should) trigger military action.
