The Great Seljuk Empire is one of those underappreciated empires in Islamic history.

After established their rule over Khorasan in 1040, the Seljuks went on to bring an end to a century of Shi'a dominance over the Islamic heartland.

By the time their third (and de facto final) sultan Malik-Shah died in 1092, every Shi'a dynasty between Iran and the Mediterranean had either been wiped out or brought to its knees as a tributary vassal.

They stripped the Isma'ili Fatimids of their Levantine territories driving them back to Egypt, and subjugated the remaining Twelver (and weakened Zaidi) dynasties across the Jazira, Iraq and Iran.
