Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining stakeholders, academics, researchers, and policymakers at the maiden Agriculture, Technology & Sustainability Conference hosted by the Ho Technical University.
The conference, held under the theme “Rethinking the Future of Food and Its Allied Systems in an Era of Sustainability and Circularity,” provided an important platform for deep reflection on the future of Ghana’s food systems and the role of innovation in driving agricultural transformation.
I commend the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ben Q. Honyenuga, for HTU’s strong commitment to sustainability, technology-driven learning, and applied research, values that are in line with the SDGs and essential for the future of food and agriculture.
The keynote presentations by Prof. Eric Yirenkyi Danquah and Prof. Mrs. Ibok Nsa Oduro were inspiring and thought-provoking. Their insights on science, innovation, capacity building, and food sovereignty challenge us to rethink how we approach agriculture in this era of climate change and global uncertainty.
I also applaud the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, for outlining government’s vision and initiatives, particularly the Feed Ghana Programme, which seeks to boost productivity and reposition agriculture as a major driver of economic growth.
As a Region, we remain committed to supporting collaborative efforts that strengthen our food systems and create opportunities for the youth. Together, we can build a resilient agricultural future for Ghana.
I invite you specially for the DAY OF BLESSINGS HO @ the Ho Technical University AUDITORIUM on the 6th of June, 2025 @ 3pm GMT.
