Fifteen billion miles from home, the farthest machine humans have ever built is still doing science on less memory than a blank Word document and a data recorder that is, quite literally, an 8-track tape.
Voyager 1, launched in 1977, is roughly 15.9 billion miles out—closing in on one light-day from Earth—and still reporting from interstellar space with about 69 kilobytes of computer memory total, plus a digital 8-track that has to overwrite old data to make room for anything new. Its signal takes nearly a day to reach us, carried by a transmitter weaker than a hallway bulb.
Marx was the first student of fundamental historical features of capitalism, Keynes, the last cameralist. Marx was a philosopher who believed that economics shapes history, Keynes, the smartest adviser to power. In Capital, we have a Bible of capitalism, in General Theory, we have The Prince for economic management of capitalism.
Putin: The communists invented Ukraine.
The communists: Let’s celebrate 300 years since the reunification of Ukraine with Russia!
This is the marker that the Soviet regime installed in 1954 in the park near Kievsky station in Moscow, a short walk from Kievskaya. It was supposed to be the foundation stone for a larger monument that was never built.
The inscription reads: “Here a monument will be erected to commemorate the 300-year anniversary of the reunification of Ukraine with Russia, 1654–1954.”
The first photo is from the ceremony in 1954 — note the “300 YEARS” text on the tribune. The second is a 1954 closeup of the laying of the stone. The third is a later family photograph that shows the stone on its plinth. The fourth is an image from 2012 — the text has faded but is still clearly readable.
The square near the park where it stands used to be called Europe but renamed Eurasia in July 2024. The marker itself was apparently still there according to a March 2026 post, with the lettering almost entirely gone.
Silly commies threw a 300-year reunion party for a country they invented. That would date them to 1654 — who knew that Alexey Mikhailovich was a Marxist-Leninist.
