The revelations that Boris Johnson has been referred to police over alleged lockdown parties at Chequers only came to light because Rishi Sunak’s government agreed to foot his legal bills for the Covid inquiry...

3. The conflict, and his bullying of the journalist, is the essence of the performance. It says "We will create our own reality. You have no power over us. And the more frustrated you get, the more we win."
Starmer asking..
Sunak's wife
- multiple comps have gone bust owing HMRC
-non dom tax status still 'owing' HMRC £20m
-Digme Fitness. Director. Went bust. HMRC £421,000 umpaid. Assets sold back to same people (not her) for just £50k

Not the odds, but the stakes.
That's my shorthand for the organizing principle we most need in coverage of the 2024 campaign. Not who has what chances of winning, but the consequences for our democracy. Not the odds, but the stakes.
This is a report from the odds discourse.
@JoeBrolly1993@DarranMarshall@HillaryClinton We loved your interview on Virgin yesterday, Joe. I admire your honesty and your persistence in fighting “the good fight.”

While the nation's cameras continue to focus on Donald’s ego in Midtown Manhattan, polls are open in Wisconsin where voters will decide who controls the State Supreme Court. This is the most consequential election of the year.
Here’s what’s at stake:
· Abortion rights
· Gun Safety
· The state’s extreme gerrymandering
· And, potentially, the outcome of the 2024 presidential election
It’s impossible to overstate the importance of today’s vote. Democratic candidate Judge Janet Protasiewicz supports overturning Wisconsin’s 1849 law banning abortion in nearly all cases, which went back into effect after the Dobb’s decision was handed down last year. She has also expressed serious concerns about election interference.
Judge Dan Kelly is anti-choice, pro-Big Lie, pro-insurrection, and pro-indicted criminal Donald Trump.
The choice couldn’t be more clear.
Drunk former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev (and spokesman for war criminal Putin) has just threatened the ICC with a hypersonic missile. He also threatened to shoot down @LindseyGrahamSC’s plane last week and hire a hitman to kill Italy’s defence minister. Seriously unhinged
Putin needs to go in history not as a powerful villain but as a nonentity. As a person who achieved nothing but ruined and spoiled so much. Not as a person who causes fear and horror but as an old man who lost his mind and is despised even by his own.
Worth bearing in mind, this is what the BBC said to me in 2020 when Andrew Neil was being a shouty, right-wing pile on orchestrator on Twitter.
Compare and contrast.
BREAKING: Mike Pence just asked a judge to block a grand jury subpoena for his role on January 6th. Let’s be clear; Mike Pence wouldn’t be doing this unless he’s still scared of Donald Trump and has something to hide. What a scaredy cat.
