A.J. Brown is now expected to miss 4–6 weeks with a high ankle sprain, and this Boutte trade looks even worse. I stand by everything I said at the time. The trade has aged like milk on a picnic table in July.

I'm deeply disappointed in Wolf over the Boutte trade. You're telling me the best he could get was a 6th-round safety from last year's draft and a 7th-round pick in 2028? Come on, man. Boutte may not have been a high-value player, but that's an incredibly underwhelming return. Wolf has to do better than that.

@ZachGatsby Brady threw 4 INTs in a season opener too, but that doesn't fit the narrative. His passer rating was 22.5 and he was benched for Rohan Davey (56.3). Maye had a 54.9 rating against a top-5 defense on the road. He’ll be fine.

@PatsBuzz Maye is essentially working with 4 new receivers: Brown, Doubs, Raridon and Akin. It’s going to take some time to build that chemistry in actual game situations. Practice is a controlled environment; live NFL reps are different. We just have to be patient.

@Novig Exactly. Brady threw 4 INTs in that 31-0 loss. If we judged QBs off one Week 1 performance, we never would’ve gotten the GOAT. Let Maye play.

I wouldn’t call Week 1 a “big game,” especially for a QB who didn’t take a single preseason snap. Maye was fine in the first half, then Brown went down and the offense fell apart. Doubs as WR1 is a massive downgrade, and Maye needs live reps to build chemistry with his receivers.

Maye was essentially a rookie last year playing his first full NFL season, behind an OL dealing with injuries and players playing out of position. His LT was playing on one good knee after a severe MCL injury and gave up 14 pressures in the Super Bowl alone. Vrabel was too cautious with Maye in preseason, and now we’re seeing the consequence. This is a chemistry/rhythm issue as much as anything.

And Stafford had a bad game tonight too—and he’s an MVP with arguably the best offensive supporting cast in the NFL. It’s a team sport. A QB can only do so much when the players around him aren’t executing.

I’m not saying opponent quality has zero impact on Maye’s numbers, but context matters. He left the Jets game early in a 42-10 blowout, so he could’ve padded his stats with another quarter and a half of football but didn’t. Despite having less around him, Maye still completed 72% of his passes. Regardless of opponent, they’re all NFL defenses.

And an “easy schedule” doesn’t automatically make a QB’s season fraudulent. Cam Newton went 15-1, won MVP and had the easiest SOS in the NFL in 2015. Kurt Warner won MVP in 1999 and 2001, despite playing relatively favorable schedules. I’m not saying Maye is the next Newton or Warner, but both ultimately lost Super Bowls after winning MVP. An easy schedule can help, but you still have to play the games and perform.

You can criticize the interceptions and say he needs to play better—that’s fair. But calling a QB a “fraud” after one bad Week 1 game, especially given everything around him, is ridiculous. Let the kid actually play before writing the story.

Patriots fall 13-10. Maye’s 3 picks hurt, but the final drive was frustrating. You’re already in FG range—take the 3, tie it, and go to OT. You don’t need a TD against that defense. Offense changed after AJ Brown went down. And enough with the screens.

Darnold out and the Patriots defense continues to contain and bring pressure. O line looks entirely different than what we saw in the Super Bowl. Helps when your LT actually has both his knees.

Tough night for the Red Sox as they drop their second straight, falling 6-4 to the Angels.

Bennett didn’t have his usual stuff, allowing 6 runs on 9 hits as Boston trailed from start to finish. Anthony and Abreu provided the bright spots with homers, but the Sox couldn’t generate enough offense to complete the comeback.

Hopefully, tomorrow’s day off gives them a chance to reset and regroup before a three-game series against the Royals. Time to bounce back.

I don't think it's going to be boring at all. If you actually love football, this is exactly the kind of matchup you want to watch to open the season. Seattle lost K9, their Super Bowl MVP, and now has something to prove. New England got embarrassed in the Super Bowl, then added A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs and upgraded the O-line. Campbell looks fully recovered from his MCL tear, too. Calling Seattle a boring team with a journeyman QB and one weapon is also selling them way short. There’s plenty of juice here.

Gonzalez has officially signed a 4-year, $135M extension with $102M guaranteed, making him the highest-paid corner in the league and NFL history.

He’s made major strides in his development, and now it’s time to see him prove he’s worth every penny. Hopefully, tomorrow night is the first step.

Red Sox get the win 5 to 2 with Bello delivering a strong start! He allowed just 4 hits while striking out 7. Duran added a solo shot, while Rutschman’s 3-run homer led the offense. Another solid all-around performance from the Sox!

Did you actually watch the OL play, or were you just watching Drake? Campbell was playing on one knee and shouldn’t have been out there. Lowe would’ve been an improvement. Campbell gave up 14 pressures by himself in the Super Bowl. Y’all blame the QB for everything instead of looking at the whole team. It’s football, not 7-on-7.

@MakarTruther98 Game has been trash since 2014 and that wasn't even the best NHL. EA banks on hockey lovers buying the game because they don't have competition. At this point the only way to get them to make changes is to boycott NHL. They care more about Madden and College Football

Tolle earns the win as the Sox hold on for a 3-1 victory! He dominated with 12 Ks, while the pitching staff stayed steady all afternoon. Chapman picked up his 400th career save. Eli White provided the offense with an early 3-run homer.

Boston moves to 79-65. Not bad considering how this season started!
