Absolutely insane story out of Syracuse, NY
A City employee who’s a registered s*x offender, was arrested on child s*x crimes after Democrat-run city council BANNED the city from asking job applicants about their criminal history
James DeSantis is a level 3 sex offender with convictions in 2005 and 2024 for child sex crimes. He’s now facing 11 new charges for attempting to r*pe a 12-year-old girl. He allegedly threatened her with a gun to meet for s*x.
James was hired by former Democrat Mayor Stephanie Miner’s admin in 2017 and was later promoted.
THE CITY DID NOT RUN A BACKGROUND CHECK ON HIM, per CNYCentral
In 2014, the city council passed the “Ban the Box Law” which restricted the city from asking job applicants about their criminal history.
Nobody even looked this guy up when he was hired.
The mayor confirmed he has since been let go of his position.
One of the biggest challenges in any major investigation isn’t just collecting evidence—it’s maintaining clear, consistent communication.
Crime scene investigator Sheryl McCollum says she believes the Nancy Guthrie investigation was “botched” from the beginning. Her criticism wasn’t centered on DNA or forensic processing. Instead, she pointed to what she sees as inconsistent public messaging and a lack of a unified front between investigators and the Guthrie family.
From an investigative psychology perspective, inconsistent messaging can have real consequences:
• It can confuse the public.
• It can make witnesses question what they know.
• It can discourage potential tipsters who aren’t sure what’s important.
• It can create unnecessary speculation that competes with evidence.
Whether or not you agree with McCollum’s assessment, one point is difficult to ignore: public trust is an investigative tool. When communication appears inconsistent, confidence in the investigation can suffer—even if critical work is happening behind the scenes.
These are McCollum’s professional opinions, not official findings by law enforcement. The investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance remains active.

Since the Sheriff's offc has retained jurisdiction on the case, and the FBI is providing help and resources, can the FBI realistically categorize the case other than what the lead agency calls it? Wouldn't FBI say they are still investigating it as ' kidnap for ransom,' as per the lead agency?
This 4th of July weekend my thoughts are with the family of this PA state trooper who was killed by an illegal Haitian truck driver. Trooper Pahira was caring for his mom with cancer.
These senseless tragedies are why I am working my heart out to change the policies that encouraged illegal drivers, enabled shady trucker schools, and drove down the wages for American truckers.
Trooper Pahira — Rest in peace.
