Where ideas come to life at Castilleja School! A community that thrives on innovation, imagination and creativity as we make, build, tinker, and explore.
The Bourn Idea Lab is about to transport 3D printers to one of its satellite affiliates to help produce personal protective equipment for medical staff.
Here's the page of home-friendly making and designing projects I'm curating for those impacted by #covid19 closures. Many thanks to the great educators whose work appears here. Let's stay connected and supportive and creative!

Jann Murray-Garcia, MD visited the Biotech/Bioethics class to discuss why race must be included when learning about biotechniques & bioethical discussions. Understanding race as a social construct allows students to better evaluate race-based medicine and genomic research.
Fitness students added art and @adafruit cpx microcontrollers to the balance boards they made. They programmed the accelerometer input to reward every few seconds in balance with another LED light. Then, time to test! @CastillejaNews@MSMakeCode
We used buttons to practice w before getting out the conductive thread Friday for our light up wearables project. We also had time to code + run light patterns on the microcontrollers again. Bags and hats are the most popular items for the planned lights so far. @CastillejaNews
Ninth grade Fitness students are taking a break from the gym to fabricate their own balance boards. The miter saw, drills, and router all saw action today. We'll finish the rollers, then add a microcontroller next class. #makered@CastillejaNews
A group of middle school girls just wrapped up two weeks of programming @FiriaLabs CodeBot robots with #Python. What a fun dive into physical computing! @CastillejaNews
Middle school girls got @FiriaLabs Code Bots lit up after school today. Great to hear them almost unconsciously murmur, "So cool" as they used a variable in #python to control the timing of light sequences. Well get motors spinning on Wednesday! @CastillejaNews
