Maryna Viazovska, a mathematician from Kyiv, was awarded the Fields Medal in 2022—one of the most prestigious honors in mathematics—for solving the problem of sphere packing in eight-dimensional space.

Notably, before her breakthrough, the problem had only been solved in three dimensions, and that solution spanned 300 pages. Viazovska’s proof, in contrast, was just 23 pages long and stood out for its remarkable elegance.

Κρύο και βροχή στον Ασπροπόταμο με 4 βαθμούς.
Αναστατωμένοι οι Χαλικιώτες το παλεύουν και συνεχίζουν να αντιστέκονται.
Η εγκατάσταση Υ/Η σταθμού στο ρέμα χαμηλής ροής, που συλλέγει τα νερά των πηγών του ανατολικού Λάκμου (Περιστέρι) δεν έχει λάβει έγκριση, ωστόσο η επιμονή του επενδυτή από την Κρήτη συνοδεύεται από την άδεια του δασαρχείου Καλαμπάκας, που επιτρέπει να προωθηθούν τα βαριά ερπυστριοφόρα στα Ελατάκια, αψηφώντας κάθε λογική και με ρίσκο να προκληθούν ζημιές σε αγωγούς υδροδότησης που βρίσκονται θαμμένοι κάτω από τον χωματόδρομο, όπως αγωνιωδώς αναφέρουν οι ντόπιοι.
Στην απέναντι όχθη του ρέματος, πέρυσι άνοιξε και προσημάνθηκε το μονοπάτι για τα Ελατάκια και την Στουρνάρα, μέρος της διάσχισης της Πίνδου Pindus Trail που συνδέει το Χαλίκι με τα χωριά του Δήμου Βορείων Τζουμέρκων, Καλαρρύτες και Συρράκο. Από τα Ελατάκια ανηφορίζει και το δημοφιλέστερο μονοπάτι της κοιλάδας του Ασπροποτάμου, αυτό που οδηγεί στο μαγευτικό οροπέδιο της Βερλίγκας και τις κορυφές του Λάκμου, Τσουκαρέλα και Μέγα Τράπου.
Δύσκολο να βρεις κόσμια λόγια να περιγράψουν το τραγικό σενάριο που διαδραματίζεται στα σπλάχνα της Πίνδου.
Ας ευχηθούμε καλό κουράγιο στους Ασπροποταμίτες που έχουν έναν πραγματικά δύσκολο αγώνα να δώσουν.
Μη ξεχνάμε ότι το Χαλίκι, είναι ένα από τα πολλά χωριά του Ασπροποτάμου που αντιμετωπίζουν την ίδια πρόκληση και θα ήταν ενθαρρυντική η υποστήριξη όλων μας!"
