The craftsmanship in 18th century stays is so meticulous it's definitely worth showing off. This corset is from the @TullieHouse collection and is a brilliant example of hand stitching from the 1780's. #sewing

Work continues on the fan @TheBowesMuseum Cecilia has supported the silk and the ribs. Using many diagrams and photos the ribs are being reattached to the silk with wheat starch paste and a few strategic stitches. Thanks to @TheFanMuseum for their advice #workingtogether
This fan, a much loved family #heirloom had a slight accident with a dog. Cecilia is working on supporting and strengthening it so it can be brought out on special occasions. The silk is shattered, the sticks and ribs are broken. Watch progress as it unfolds @TheBowesMuseum
