@anitaleirfall I can tell in advance that's poppycock! Consciousness is essentially self-monitoring of a guidance system (which all need frequent calibration, testing, etc…). The so-called "hard problem" is just a failure of the imagination: inability to identify one's self with such a system.

@ArtemisConsort I think the placenta is a "battleground" between father's genes, in effect trying to grab all the resources it can, and mother's genes, in effect trying to mete out resources more judiciously for future children. Hormonal abnormalities in utero may be result of this "battle".

@JDHamkins Written language (more than spoken language) gives us the ability to create structures that seem to us to describe "details of reality", but in fact are mere artifacts of language — "There are fewer things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of in (much) philosophy"!
