An absolutely shameful statement by Steven MacKinnon. Every organization with a long track record of expert commentary on the rule of law in Canada condemned the bill.

Also, just had this thought — if this is “anti-conservative” bias then is it the conservative position that anti feminism — as in, blaming women and gender equality for society’s ills — is worth promoting?
Hi @McAllisterBruce — I also wrote about this report and I’m proud to have done so. If you think testimony on the real-world harms to women and girls caused by extremism is worth ignoring then don’t read it, but claiming it’s not worth coverage is objectively false
This is truly disappointing from a major network - or any network for that matter. There are so many issues the public would rather see reported. I remember when media used to present both sides and let the public decide. I remember - when I was at Global TV - like 20 years ago - we did a deep dive into possible marijuana legalization. I did the anti piece - the legendary Louis Koutis took the pro side - then we had a poll and discussion panel. It was engaging, informative and presented BOTH sides. That’s it. It’s really not that complicated.
Too much of their focus these days is clearly supportive of woke, anti-conservative activist issues pushing “manosphere” panic, gender ideology in schools, endless climate alarmism, open borders framing, and identity politics over practical solutions for families, energy workers, and everyday Albertans.
We need better. Return to real balance and let the public decide. Bonus for them is viewers might return - and who knows - maybe even advertisers.
That expert would be me. To see a Liberal cabinet minister adopt the Vic Toews’ “you’re with us or with the criminals” style language on lawful access should be the signal that the government has lost its way on Bill C-22.
With all due respect…
To influenced and media pundits who pick a team, and a political side, and comment on issues in this style - it just reads to me as a bit lazy.
Ad hominem attacks, insults, and judgements with no arguments attached seem like you’re just pandering to your side.
This post doesn’t tell me a thing about what Rachel thinks about monetary policy, fiscal policy, the role of capitalism and markets.
You can call @tobi a loser all you like, but factually he’s a very successful entrepreneur, and did not lose on that venture.
I understand his people can say whatever they like, but I would value a substantive discussion on very wealthy individuals, and how we treat this minority of elites without devolving into insults.
The left isn’t wrong that they command a lot of power and influence. The right isn’t wrong to say they worked hard, and sacrificed a lot to get their wealth.
I would just love to see a bit more substance than what I see here.

@wyatt_claypool Further reporting and digging is always welcome. Can we do it without accusations of bias and political shilling? Lets drive in the same direction instead of fuelling division and distrust
For the record, I’m not a liberal or affiliated with any political group. Statistics Canada is non-partisan. I appreciate the perspective here but that doesn’t equate to me lying on behalf of the government. Hope that helps!
MUST WATCH: The National Telegraph's @Wyatt_Claypool reveals how MSM ‘liberal loyalists,’ like @BoyntonWords, are attempting to mislead the public with StatsCan data, while paving the way for Mark Carney to renege on yet another promise: Fixing the broken justice system. #cdnpoli
@wyatt_claypool 1) A drop in crime statistics does not equate to “low crime environment” and the article never makes that argument - that’s a leap you made
2) I point out that violent crime rate barely fell compared to non-violent crime
