Chris Rabb has introduced a bill to allow Ranked Choice Voting in Pennsylvania municipal elections
The Philadelphia City Council has voted 15-1 to approve a resolution urging the PA House to pass the bill
If HB 123 passes, it would allow the 2027 Philadelphia mayoral election to be RCV like New York City's
I see your profile picture. That’s Johnny Cash. My hero too. Arrested seven times. Smuggled 668 amphetamines across the Mexican border in 1965. Took every drug there was and drank like I did. Cheated on his first wife. Slept with more woman than I ever did. Hit bottom in a cave in Tennessee in 1968 trying to crawl off and die. And then he got up. He got clean. He spent the rest of his life singing for prisoners and addicts and the people the country threw away because he knew he was one of them.
That was the whole point of the Man in Black. He wore it for the poor and the beaten down. He wore it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime. He wore it for the ones who never heard a word of Jesus. He wore it for the addicted and the dying. He wore it as a standing witness that no one is past saving.
You picked his picture. You did not pick his message. Try listening to the words.
The discourse around Graham Planter, "sexting" and adultery is surreal.
In the 1990s, Bill Clinton was revealed to be a serial adulterer, womanizer and harasser, yet Dems won the 1998 midterms in the middle of the Lewinsky scandal and his approval ratings stayed high because nobody cared (feminist groups vehemently defended him). Every four years, Dems gave him a standing ovation at the DNC and still do.
Then the GOP rallied behind Trump, whose major identity was as a tabloid figure who serially and openly cheated on all of his multiple wives while they were all at home raising his young children. He paid hush money to a porn star! MAGA is now enamored with Ken Paxton, a confessed serial adulterer, who Trump endorsed and whom MAGA is trying to empower in the Senate.
Who has the clean hands to pretend with a straight face that Graham Platner's sexting -- which his wife has forgiven -- is "disqualifying" in the modern political era?
Giant factory ships are vacuuming up krill from the Southern Ocean to feed industrial demand for supplements and fish farms. Meanwhile wildlife pays the price. #KrillWars
There are two 250th celebrations and the difference matters:
America250 = the official, bipartisan commission (est. 2016)
Freedom 250 = the Trump-backed one
The administration blurred them on purpose. The artists were misled, but they HAVE to check.
And in this instance, Freedom 250 is a pro Trump fascist group which is not affiliated with America 250 (the official non partisan committee group). Thread over. But this type of obfuscation is EXACTLY what they do.
@TrueFactsStated This provides a sense of scale. It will dwarf even the Lincoln Memorial.
Trump fired the entire National Capital Planning Commission & the Commission of Fine Arts, and he controls the National Park Service. He destroys everything he touches.
This must be stopped.
If you didn't already know, over 300,000 people are receiving basic income in South Korea in a massive pilot, and after a year, the first results are in. Surprise, surprise, it led to new businesses in essential services such as restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, and hair salons.
This is actually not fine
I worked at the legal team at YouTube 10 years ago, specifically for copyright infringement
You only can use other people’s content for what’s known as “fair use” for commentary and additional value, it boils down to how said platform is designs, hence 𝕏 needs to define what they consider as such, since posts could have the video with text expressing one’s opinion of it.
With that said… many accounts on 𝕏 act if they are reporters or journalists, simply stating what the videos is about, not a single thought or research done, even if the info is incorrect.
In fact Massimo @Rainmaker1973 violated the US copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 501). Copyright infringement, for unauthorized reproduction and distribution of a copyrighted work.
He also makes money off of it which if he gets sued could be demanded the same amount of money plus damages.
Now Viral Rush @ViralRushX account that Nikita is calling original creator actually creates nothing, he steals content and call them his original work, he puts his water mark on them, and doubles down by attacking those who stole his “original work” demanding they get punished for stealing it.
That’s a copyright infringement US copyright law (17 U.S.C. § 501).
+
False designation of origin / misrepresentation under the Lanham Act (15 U.S.C. § 1125), which covers false advertising and passing off someone else’s work as your own. It can also strengthen claims for statutory damages or willful infringement.
So it’s 2 crimes not just one.
Both are stealing content
Viral Rush being a worse criminal than Massimo, and should be demonetized immediately!
But according to Nikita if I post a @netflix movie here, it would be my original work if I just do it first and put my logo on it
I wonder how Netflix would feel about that.
Also this should be handled privately and by someone who actually understands the company’s terms of use and policies.
@elonmusk please
Hire people who do Trust and Safety, and handle legal requests
This is not his this issue should’ve been handled.
This sounds nice, but it's a great way to undermine the welfare state.
The strongest welfare states in the world (the Nordics) tax everyone, including nurses. And they give everyone universal healthcare, childcare, pensions, education in return.
When the middle class has skin in the game, they defend the system. When welfare is 'just for the poor', it becomes a poor program: stigmatized, underfunded, easy to gut.
That's why billionaires keep pushing this idea. The real scandal isn't that this nurse pays $12k.
It's that Jeff Bezos pays $0.
