@JamesLucasIT It’s the contrast with the Medici Tombs that always struck me. The sculptures of female bodies are nowhere near as refined as the David. Almost as if female bodies didn’t interest Michelangelo the way male bodies did. Which makes sense if, as is likely, he was gay.
@chairman_maiow@nataliesurely He toiled in obscurity for the first 40 years of his life. He was only famous for the last 20. I’ll bet it could be really interesting.
@applesacres@RepTiffany@RepBrianBabin An executive order on this question is meaningless. As is any law passed by Congress that attempts to abolish birthright citizenship. That's what it means to be in the constitution. It doesn't matter that you think it's bad policy or you hate it. It's not going away.
@applesacres@RepTiffany@RepBrianBabin Anyone (and I do mean, ANYONE) born on US soil is an American citizen. That's what birthright citizenship means. Now they can also be citizens of another country as well, but they have the absolute right to claim US citizenship.
@paulg So no, it’s completely unsurprising that this person found it impossible to continue as if everything is normal when his good friend voted for a world- historical destructive force. This isn’t just disagreement over policy. It’s a fundamental break with liberal democracy.
@paulg The fact that this utter turd of a person won the election decisively after everything we’ve been through with him for almost 10 years is so profoundly upsetting and bewildering it calls into question everything I thought I knew about this country and what it’s about.
@atrupar This is the one issue that Trump really, really cares about. I predict he'll be largely hands off on all the rest of his ridiculous promises. But he's going to make sure by hook or by crook that immigrants are hounded out of the country. He'd sacrifice a lot to make it happen.
@awprokop People learned the wrong lesson from the 2008 financial crisis when the rescue package was too small and unemployment remained high. Inflation was the concern then too, but it never materialized.
@DudespostingWs How is this at all controversial.
Becomes much harder in an English pub-style trough type urinal. That's when you just have to say f*** it and let it all hang out. But often you're too sloshed to care.
@GregTSargent It would have been more important in retrospect to explicitly and loudly break with Biden than to craft a specific position. What dragged Harris down more than anything was that she never repudiated anything the Biden Admin did - and Biden is very unpopular!
@franklinleonard Two things are true at the same time.
1. Many MAGA adherents are driven by racial resentment.
2. A much larger group were unhappy with the direction of the country and Biden's leadership.
Also, not that it matters, but the biggest victim group in college admissions is Asians.
@MichaelCalifra@DeanBaker13 He's not "making stuff up". We certainly know from polls that the public didn't believe that Democrats had delivered. 70% of the public thinks the country is on the wrong track. Couldn't be clearer.
