Today, through the @BPR_Foundation Ubumuntu Initiative, BPR staff donated RWF 4,370,000 to support over 1,450 vulnerable citizens in @KayonzaDistrict who are unable to afford Mutuelle de Santé.
The cheque was officially handed over earlier today to the Mayor of Kayonza District, Mr. Fred Hategekimana @FredSafariH, in the presence of sector executive leaders from across the district.
Speaking on behalf of BPR Bank, the Eastern Region Business Manager Mr Gakara Jean de Dieu emphasized that strengthening relationships within our communities is of great importance to the Bank and reaffirmed BPR’s commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the well-being of the communities we serve.
Taking the stage, our MD @Peshmutesi highlighted the importance of supporting young entrepreneurs from early idea testing through IGIRE and Intranet, all the way to building the skills and records needed for formal financing.
She also shared two key shifts needed to make financing more accessible for young women:
1. Shift perception: women’s financing is a strong commercial opportunity.
2. Rethink collateral: move from land-only requirements to cash-flow and behaviour-based lending.
What is BPR doing? Through BPR iKamba, we offer cash-flow-based loans up to FRW 100M, reduced fees, smart savings, and dedicated WSME branches.
“We remain committed to designing financial pathways that remove barriers, unlock growth, and give women the space to thrive.”
We are honored to join the @MastercardFdn's "Young Africa Works Dialogue" in Kigali today!
Our MD, @Peshmutesi, will be on the intergenerational panel unpacking how we can truly unlock Finance for Young Women Entrepreneurs in Rwanda and pave the way for dignified and fulfilling work.
Stay tuned for more insights on the discussion!
