Residents stage protests blaming Governor Julius Malombe and Senator Enoch Wambua for the closure of the Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC) which they say has destabilized their livelihoods.

The residents accuse Wambua of calling for the factory's shutdown based on unfounded claims and also allege that Governor Malombe's administration chased away local vendors who sold their produce at the factory's entrance.

They are calling on Governor Malombe to establish markets for KICOTEC's products and fulfill the promises made during the election campaign.
