The creator of the C++ programming language, Bjarne Stroustrup, says AI-generated code is not successful and calls the idea of using natural language as a programming language idiotic.

He says humans will still write code and use abstraction.

According to him, AI generates bloated code with more bugs and security holes, making it hard to validate.

He also says the senior developers needed to validate it are starting to retire because they don’t want to deal with validating something that changes every time you change your prompt.

He goes on to say that AI is not good at writing safety-critical or performance-critical code: “Now, let’s say that 70 or 80% of the world’s code doesn’t fit that pattern, but it’s that 10, 20% of the code that I’m interested in.”

What I've learned from watching US politics since 1988:

Libertarians can't run shit.

They can hardly agree on anything, except stuff around 80% of Americans reject out of hand.

There's a reasons the libertarians hang around the periphery of any new, successful, advancing, growing movement that's getting traction.

They've NEVER HAD ONE OF THEIR OWN. Ever.

So they circle the outside of the movement and fantasize about taking it over and redirecting it.

Ron Paul may be RIGHT about a LOT of stuff, but let's not kid ourself. He can't lead anything out of a wet paper bag. Ron Paul was never happening.

So as with the Tea Party, with MAGA, the Ron Paul fans circle our movement, fantasizing about what they could do with the MAGA movement...IF ONLY THEY COULD HIJACK IT.

And as their fantasies come to nothing, now they circle the outside of MAGA screaming we need to join them in the 'new movement' or 'new party' they're planning to start.

FOR JUST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE...could assholes be honest?

It's not a 'new movement' and it's not a 'new party'.

It's the same old movement from 20 years ago. You just keep changing the window dressing.

In 1986 a guy got kicked out of every casino in Vegas for counting cards. So he flew to Hong Kong with $180,000 and started betting on horses instead. He walked away with almost $900 million.

It's Bill Benter. He figured horse racing was just another counting problem. Same math, more moving parts.

He and a partner showed up with $180k and a computer. Benter spent years teaching that computer to guess one thing, the real chance each horse had to win. If his number was better than the odds the bookies gave, he bet. If not, he skipped it.

That's the whole trick. Expected value.
