CFOs have moved from viewing digital assets as purely speculative to having utility.
The opportunity now is what crypto and stablecoins, like $XRP and $RLUSD, can do for treasury, payroll, and cross-border flows.
The game-changer: onchain markets don't stop at 5 pm or take weekends off. That opens the door to new ways to put idle cash to work around the clock and to empower treasury as a strategic value driver.
@rvereecke, SVP, Ripple Treasury, explores the shift in the latest Crypto In One Minute.
1/ This one stings. Our team gave everything we had to get the Clarity Act across the finish line.
So did most of the industry. This was an opportunity bigger than Ripple or one company
- we did this for the industry, tor consumers and to cement the US's position as the crypto capital of the world and as a leader in the future of finance. Ultimately, consumers and U.S. competitiveness got left behind.
2/ A post mortem needs to be done on why this failed (more from me on that in the days ahead). The politics of the democrats (the anti-crypto army) was elevated over good policy.
3/ There is still reason for optimism for crypto in the United States. Now, the SEC, under Chair Atkins, and the CFTC, under Chair Selig, will continue to work hard to issue rules to fill the legislative gap and we will continue to be actively engaged in that rule making process.
4/ Ripple's business has never been stronger - real demand across traditional finance and the digital asset ecosystem. A missed vote in Washington doesn't change our momentum, our global footprint, or our customers.
This bill isn't just a compromise...it's the product of real, substantive trades policymakers made to get here.
I said this many months ago: perfect can't be the enemy of good...
and let's be clear: those trades weren't small.
This isn't a deal Senators should be 'settling for'
โ it's a deal that they should stand behind.
Senate: the world is watching and voters are watching. Now is the time to vote yes.
Iโve said many times that the CLARITY Act is essential to ensuring America wins the global race for new technology. Thatโs the reason Congress passed the GENIUS Act: to ensure that stablecoin infrastructure, a revolutionary financial technology, will be built in America.
Ensuring that Americaโs community bank sector continues to thrive has been a constant focus of mine since day one. And the administrationโs dual focus on enabling new digital technology to flourish and appropriately tailoring community bank regulation is key to both sectors driving U.S. economic growth together over the next several decades.
The final draft of the CLARITY Act furthers this mission. It gives the Secretary of the Treasury additional authority to act if the facts around deposit flight change to the detriment of community banks. If stablecoins cause harm to community banks, I will not hesitate to use these tools to ensure they remain fully protected.ย Community banks are essential to U.S. economic performance and Main Street growth. Economic security is national security, and community banks play a major role in this principle.
A good reminder on how finance still works today... the Central Bank of Netherlands just spent months moving $11B in gold from New York to London.
~70% of it never actually left the ground. It was sold in NYC and repurchased in London. This reminded me of a story from 2013 - Germany took four years (!!) to move 674 tons of gold, worth $36 billion from vaults in Paris and New York.
In the 10+ years between those two stories, crypto went from a $1.5B experiment to a $2.7T asset class + financial infrastructure with real liquidity behind it. What didn't change: central banks (and a lot of the world frankly) still moving value the way they did in the 1940s.
Meanwhile self-driving cars are navigating city traffic, Al has transformed how we work, Starlink gives you internet access from just about anywhere in the world. But the best way to move value isn't to actually move it? It's confounding...
This an ideal use case for crypto - storing and then moving value instantly, securely, arour the world, at little to no cost. How are pe still fighting this?!
The Dutch central bank has transferred approximately 86 metric tons of gold from the U.S. and Canada to the U.K., seeking to shore up its contingency planning amid โincreasing geopolitical unrest.โ
Just over one quarter of the central bankโs gold reserves held in New York and Ottawa was shifted to London between March and August, the bank said.

No August doldrums in DC this week! It was great to join the inaugural @CFTC Innovation Advisory Committee (a group I've called "the Olympic roster of crypto.") But for a "crypto" gathering, there were a LOT of TradFi players in the room like @NASDAQ, @CMEGroup, @CBOE, @OptionsClearing, @NYSE,
@The_DTCC (alphabet soup!)
Everyone was in agreement. Rules written for a different era aren't good enough. Not for consumers. Not for business. Not for innovation.
I made this case in an open letter to Congress back in 2019. Seven years later, we STILL need clear rules.... Thanks to the Trump administration, appointees like
@ChairmanSelig, and a myriad of bold leaders in Congress, we've never been closer.
Great to be back at the White House today
alongside @realDonaldTrump,
@SECPaulSAtkins, @ChairmanSelig and leaders across the crypto industry.
The big picture has never been clearer: 67 million Americans hold crypto today (that's nearly 1 in 4!). Crypto isn't a fringe industry. And Washington DC knows the crypto voter is alive and well.
This President's incredible commitment to innovation and leadership around digital assets in the US has been profound. The future is bright.
Rare moment where my protessional and personal worlds collide: XRP is now the first crypto on the jersey of a major college athletics program, at my alma mater.
XRP Family, meet the Jayhawks. Rock Chalk!
A shared commitment to innovation and excellence. ๐ค
Kansas Athletics is proud to announce a new groundbreaking partnership with Ripple, bringing the XRP brand to Jayhawk uniforms.
I've been in crypto long enough to know when a moment is real. This is one of them.
10 years of Swell converging with real scale, institutional adoption, and Swell + Apex together for the first time this fall. We've been building toward this moment - see you in New York! @RippleSwell Show more
The "Anti-Crypto Army" was defeated... by the courts... by the voters.
And by Trump.
It never made policy, legal or political sense.
Combatting financial innovation only helped protect those that wanted to keep an old, often broken, system in place.
The Senate Banking Committee is putting in the work as it moves the Clarity Act forward... incredible leadership!
Millions of Americans are already in this market.
Ripple stands behind this bill because they deserve the same rules and protections as every other asset class. If the largest economy in the world is going to lead on crypto - and it must - this is the moment. Let's get it done!
