@JennXTex Does he have a LinkedIn? If so, please reply with it so I can give it a look over. He could be missing something on his profile. With the AI gpts these days you can never be too sure.
You just need to go cold turkey and kick him out entirely. He knows he can fall back on you so he’s not putting 110% effort into finding a job. It sounds harsh but it’s nature versus nurture and like I said it’s what’s worked with our children.
In respect to the job search, after you’ve kicked him out, I’d recommend applying to the companies Jane Street, Two-Sigma and Optiver. They are “safeties” for data science. Shouldn’t be too hard to get into for your son.
I’d also recommend he email a cover letter to the CEOs of each, should go a long way. That’s what I did to get my first job out of college. Except we didn’t have E-Mail back in those days. 😅. Don’t know what the current generation would do if they had to apply for jobs face to face!
I think Indians are a perfectly fine addition to the country. They work hard, they aren’t entitled like some of our youth, they don’t ask for the moon and stars in terms of a wage, and it seems like a lot of people enjoy Indian takeout food. Personally not for me though.
@Archangel2569@ChiefTrumpster My kids don't need to be handed everything to be successful. I told them I didn't get handouts so neither will they. Life isn't always easy.
@akhileshutup Just own your method of transportation. I own an RV that I take out west, and when I'm back home in Florida I have a boat for weekend trips to the Bahamas. I can take it anywhere in range!
@KirbySp13125@ChiefTrumpster We didn’t have ai gpt chats. I spent my summers working in a hardware store in the early 70s for 2 bucks an hour. Try living off of that.
I bet you couldn’t find an answer to a simple google search type question in a library. Your generation has lost critical thinking skills.
@born2baghold@ChiefTrumpster People like me are the market. We have all the housing and we will sell it at what we think is a fair price. It takes a lot to maintain a house you know…
@midagroyper@ChiefTrumpster I have 3 kids who I will leave my house to. It’s in a trust so it can’t be taxed, seized, or touched by creditors. I haven’t given my kids any help beyond the promise they will get the house. Has helped them build character.
@EdaG889915 It’s way too bright for me. I think I’m going to need lasik surgery for my eyes unless they ban all headlights. Well thank goodness any eye surgery can be paid for with my social security.
@TraderStrider@MascMillennial I don't think its too much to ask for young people to support us as we grow older and retire. I mean thats what we did back in the day.
Keep hearing young people say they can't afford a house. Found this one in Michigan for 40k. THREE bedrooms. Nobody said your first home had to be perfect. These younger generations need to lower their expectations a little.

@RRyanMalk We had 15 percent inflation in the 70s. I didn’t have any free time growing up. I had to work in a hardware store to pay for college. Maybe I ended up alright because I didn’t order a limousine for my chipotle burrito and starbuck drink.
@DBurgemeist I agree, I worked hard all my life and now at my age I'm ready to kick back and enjoy the remaining years I have. This money is mine and my kids aren't entitled to it. They can have the rest after I'm done, but I am not lowering my quality of life for them.
