The Grenfell Inquiry’s findings are devastating—a tragic reminder of the 72 lives lost & the failures that let it happen. It’s painful to hear. We owe it to the families affected to ensure this never happens again, and that justice and prosecutions are quickly sought.
Moreover, the long shadow of Grenfell still blights the lives of many living in high rise blocks. Those with fire safety concerns, some unsellable and unliveable, many facing high costs and problems. Urgent reforms are needed to give recourse to residents and leaseholders and to speed up fire safety remediation.

🗨️ “I work as a paramedic and I’ve gone to quite a few building fires. A lot of them are under 11 metres. I don’t really agree that 11 metre buildings are a lot safer"

🔴 Today we think about the 72 people who died on 14 June 2017, their loved ones & the Grenfell community.
The inquiry report lays bare successive governments' failure to protect people. Industry profits were prioritised over safety.
We now demand justice and meaningful change.
We remember the 72 innocent lives lost in the Grenfell Tower tragedy. My thoughts are with the bereaved families, the survivors and residents in the immediate community.
As @Keir_Starmer said, on behalf of the British state we apologise to each and every one of them.
🔴 Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the fire in Dagenham this morning.
The number one priority is that all affected residents are safe and well and get the support and answers they need.
Action to make our homes safe remains urgent - and the pace must accelerate.
Disappointing to see no reference of the cladding & building safety scandal in the King’s Speech.
We look forward to meeting the Minister with the brief next week to understand how @UKLabour will meet its manifesto commitments 👇🏼
We also hope to meet @AngelaRayner soon.
The building safety scandal "continues to blight the lives of many who continue to pay the price of the wilful incompetence and greed of others that was exposed by the Grenfell tragedy."
