We have learned that, in their rush to dock our pay, U-M Admin denied medical leave to a grad worker about to undergo chemotherapy for brain cancer (even with their extensive documentation). This is emblematic of @UMich's treatment of us throughout this campaign.

Also important, White women were equally likely to be buyers as sellers, so it is not the case that their involvement was only on one "side" of the market. This is inconsistent with White women being passive owners from, say, the death of a spouse. 10/N

PLOT TWIST: The big finding? White women were MOST involved in owning enslaved Black women. In New Orleans, White women were involved in 51.95% of female-based transactions. In notaries, 42.45%. In runaway advertisements, 25.44%. The gender of enslavement was gendered. 9/N
