@MindThinketh@JamesSurowiecki@dayman23 Okay but the same politicians you support and every city and every state and every agency recommends this. So you're hating just to hate. Which is fine but on this particular post, idiotic
@JosephPeel7680@JamesSurowiecki@ConradJoeImhof First of all, prices are calculated based on usage first then supply. So likely little effect. Secondly, power is lost in transmission unless the site is built in the city. Lastly, It's still a stress on the system when it's a heatwave like this
@The0tt0Show@SprouseBre29818 First of all, it's not just a little, but secondly it's literally stressing out your AC and the power grid. Sure, you can do this as you wish but so can any resident of New York City, So what's your point?
@DeliciousDarth@JamesSurowiecki@Mark_J_Ryan No, it's not. This happens every year in New York City. High temperatures lead to power outages. Even the best grids sometimes fail. The suggestion at least helps the grid stay viable. But I'll reiterate, he has no control over the state power grid
@MindThinketh@JamesSurowiecki@dayman23 It's not even his policy. It's a policy that literally everybody has. Is this your first summer ever alive in the United States? Apparently it is because this is a common warning every goddamn year but it's only a problem because he says it?
@will548@JamesSurowiecki@dayman23 That's exactly the reason. But it's not just politicians, it's him. The Texas governor said it, I haven't heard a peep. He says it, based on a predetermined recommendation by the way, he's a moron. They don't want to like him and are running out of reasons
@pnester89@JamesSurowiecki@dayman23 No one said you can't set your temperature to whatever you want. They're asking you not to. Did you never learn the difference between a request and an order?
@ubuto23@JamesSurowiecki@ConradJoeImhof Which would you rather have, 78° or 95 °? Because the power will shut off because it routinely does in NYC. He's literally trying to save your power grid and you guys think it's a bad policy? I'm sorry. Did I miss the memo Where everybody is a climatologist or a HVAC guy?
@ConradJoeImhof@JamesSurowiecki My apartment was 79 last night and with a fan on it wasn't that bad. It's better than not having any air conditioning and having it be 95 in there. I've been in this heat all week, so yeah I do appreciate people like him do this
@ImMeme0 Everybody got some kind of warning. So what are you mad about? It's not just NYC, it's not just Democrats doing this, it's Texas, it's Florida, it's Indiana, it's Michigan, it's Oklahoma. Everybody does this. It'll be hot Monday but not at the same level. So yes warning is needed
@stormchasevideo@stephenfishbach This disproves your point but okay. You notice how the miles is more than the minutes? That suggests that they use local speeds limits to determine time instead of 60 mph. Otherwise they would be equal
@soulfly2083@bigjccincyfan@Ryan_Parkerrr I don't think your feelings in the matter are relevant. If someone infringes upon your rights, it does not give you the right to do whatever the hell you want to do. You will still go to jail. Also, that's a weird argument to what I'm talking about
@MissyMaltese@TBR24_7 You are misrepresenting the problem and misdefining E Pluribus Unum. We have no set way of life. That's the point. Our culture is a melting pot of the many. Meaning we accept everyone. You don't have to denounce your home or change your culture. You simply just have to coexist
