Steam player numbers, like stock prices and betting odds, are singular pieces of data that are treated like complete datasets by the absolute worst people. This behavior has absolutely fucked the vibe around so many things that I love.
Any normalization of this behavior is a net negative, regardless of if a singular piece of news is seen as positive or negative.
@MarathonGG_ Add a special DCON to the map that lets you teleport some loot to your vault without exfilling. Make it an event and it’s one use only so we have a reason to fight for it
If only there was some kind of serialized digital item tracked on a decentralized server somewhere that could represent the receipts of purchased items in my game library. Surely nobody would have any problems with that whatsoever and everyone would act totally normal about it.
I completely understand where you’re coming from, but for a lot of gamers physical discs are the only way they could afford to play games because they could get them secondhand. You can also give games to your younger siblings Which is a great way to introduce them to the games you were playing.
Most importantly though, as we saw from PlayStation this past week, if the media we buy is only digital, it can be taken away from us at a moment’s notice with no recourse. Imagine that, one day your entire library of games could be deleted overnight because technically you don’t own it.
The very same people who vociferously cheer-led Microsoft's mindless M&A spree and religiously supported GamePass while it was clearly failing are now going to explain to you how and why it all went wrong.
And remember: These guys wanted more!
Zero accountability. Embarrassing.
@Shpeshal_Nick@Bethesdanet@dark1x Where was this concern for the industry during the ABK deal? You championed “spending Sony out of business” but suddenly care about stability?
@TaeKwonKrypto@AzukiTCG It’s from the STT03 set right? I’ve ripped a few booster boxes but have only seen the AZK01 cards lol jw if I needed to rip a starter pack to get one of those!
> sees wolverine trailer
> genuinely excited to play
> check twitter
> blood/healing not realistic, woke trash, hate it
honestly i have no clue how game devs even wake up in the morning lol
Reminder that working in the Game Industry is hell and all you get online is hate for it anyway from people who've never done anything creative in their entire lives and then you get fired out of nowhere by executives who's never done anything creative in their entire lives
This is all super impressive and I mean that, but I have to ask: what is the end game here? Let’s assume you have scaled and optimized. Will you retain employees beyond those who maintain and feed it novel data? And what happens if your access to anthropic is cut off? Do you own enough compute to run it in house?
