@BauerOutage Youโre allowed to go back to work. Unfortunately for you it seems the employer you specifically want to work for isn't interested in your services.
Which two players with the same first and last name had the best combined career?
Ken Griffey and Ken Griffey? (probably)
Vladimir Guerrero and Vladimir Guerrero (maybe one day?)
Frank Thomas and Frank Thomas? (oooh, interesting)
Who else?
Falcons rookie class is here at Truist Park, each receiving a jersey with their name.
Matt Olson and Michael Harris II, two huge Falcons fans, greeted them.
Hear me out: All-Star Austin Riley.
I'm not saying he's earned it. Yet. But I would like to get there.
Just look at this @Stathead Batting Season query of NL third basemen this year. Riley is one sustained hot streak from making some noise.
I would like to hear that noise.
@Dbor32@Stathead Compare this to three campers trying to outrun a bear, and Riley and Muncy are two of the campers. Riley doesn't need to outrun the bear. He needs to outrun one of the other two campers, and it doesn't have to be Muncy.
@thepmill That's fine. I do too. My entire point was Drew was not an indicator of going for it all -- he was only a replacement for Sheffield, and they didn't need him as much as they needed to keep Wainwright and especially Marquis for 2004.
Adam Wainwright was only a prospect at the time, and a good one. He won *200* MLB games and had four different 6+ WAR seasons.
2003 was JD Drew's *only* 6+ WAR seasons and we could have won that division without him.
Investigative report: I just asked Acuรฑa what he was doing here. He laughed and said that he kept staring at the balls because it looked like one ball was bigger than the other. Stay tuned for further updates.
@jaysonst Batters facing...
Sanchez:
25-for-138, 4 2B, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 0 R, .204/.210/.414
Misiorowski:
14-for-129, 1 2B, 6 BB, 1 HBP, 1 R, .109/.154/.116
I know Sanchez allowed ZERO runs, but you can't convince me he out-pitched the Miz in May!
@thepmill No, we don't agree.
With knowledge that Wainwright turned into an ace with multiple Top-3 CY finishes both before and after missing a year, you absolutely do not trade him for just one good year of one guy who's only one of nine in a lineup.
@BeaneaterB@JacobBSpeaks If he puts up 9 WAR he'll be in the conversation... but how is he doing it while playing (mostly) left field? Is it because he's playing a decent amount of center field? He has the WAR but he's not standing out in any particular area.

@thepmill If we're just doing 9 seasons, Wainwright won 99 games in those same seasons, including a cup of coffee debut, a relief season, and a season missed due to injury.
Drew had his best year in Atlanta. It worked out well for that one year, but it was unexpected. Braves overpaid.
